Help Anyone able to watch TV on droid from Orb.com?

1. Download Orb and Create an orb account at orb.com
2. Download nswPlayer from market. Open it and set it as your default media player.
3. Download Opera Mini browser from market.
4. Go to mycast.orb.com on your computer and sign in. Under settings change the video stream to 3gp.
5. On your droid open up opera and navigate to mycast.orb.com, sign in, and select a feed.
6. That should be it.

This worked for me.

I got it working without having to get another browser. I have been using dolphin browser since I got the phone. After first it would give an error and not stream from mycast.orb.com. But after I cleared out all the browser cache and retried it is now streaming ok

All these steps worked for me, except I'm getting no sound. Tried with the stock media player and NSW. I get video with both the standard stream setting in orb and also the 3gp, but no sound with either. I added some videos on my PC to the media in orb and the sound on these work, so I think it is an issue with my tuner being muted. I'm using Windows 7 ultimate and it handles sound differently than Xp.
For everyone that this is working for, what OS and tuner are you using?
Ideas?

NSW won't auto rotate on my Droid...stays in portrait mode. That makes it pretty useless to me. Is it auto rotating for you?

There is a setting in it to auto rotate.

Thanks...I should have confirmed that I have that setting checked/enabled in my initial message - that wasn't the issue.

But it turned out that I had bigger problems...the NSW install didn't go right for some reason. I lost the ability to run Marketplace, other apps were behaving weirdly, and though the NSW icon was on my phone and ran once, it was not listed as an app in Manage Apps. Power cycled a number of times, didn't help.

So I had to do a factory reset to get it running normal again. Not sure what happened exactly, maybe some misplaced bits during the NSW install...

I'll try again and see...

Don't hold your breath for hava to come through. They couldn't get it working on anything but qvga screens. Literally hundreds of emails from omnia users and they stopped responding in their own forums. The software they have is extremely buggy and looses connection almost every minute.

When I open mycast.orb.com in Dolphin it sticks on "Loading..."

Any ideas?

Pretty odd that it's working on the Android browser for me but not Dolphin.

mine dont seem to work over wifi. I get "Sorry this Video cannot be played" for vids and songs.
Pops right up on 3g but the video is kinda crappy.

This is dvd's that i have downloaded to my pc. Which is very cool. It would be nice to hit pause and let it buffer but that just stops the stream altogether.

ok i got it working using the 3gp(sdp) format using the default browser and player. You need to have it set on your desktop and your mobile browser in this format as well for some reason or anything. The file will show in your browser download history and all i did was double tap it to play the file. pretty much like markpdroid. Sometimes if I run into issues I'll clear my browsers cache and cookie and it works again... just gotta reset all the settings.

I got Orb working ok with the Droid viewer. nswPlayer will not play the stream at all. I can't make it the default player and it won't play the test streams so I uninstalled it.

My only problem is that I can't change channels, it always wants to go back to the last channel the played. I set the new channel number and press "play" and it changes the channel back to the last one played. I have to go back to the login screen and start over. Has anyone else found this and a solution?

Thanks.

I think it's dependent on your WIFI network. are you streaming the video from the same network... your desktop and your android?

I'm also on Windows 7 with the same issue. PC files have sound on Droid but Live TV doesn't. My tuner card is a Hauppage 1800 and I'm running through the cable box. When I stream TV to a PC though orb it works, just not on droid which is confusing. Gonna keep pluggin away at this. Also it works best for me (with no sound) in 3gp AAC setting.

I found a solution for the no sound issue. If you are running FFD show uncheck the mixer when you are trying stream and audio should work, it saves the setting so you should only have to do it once. Also for HD channels audio only works for me if Dolby decoder is on. Another note is that ORB seems to work a lot bettter in the Dolphin Browser. Now I can finally get to sleep in peace.

I may have been wrong about ffdshow. Turns out if you simply reload the download when using dolphin and 3gp .sdp you get sound back. Still not changing ffd cause this stuff is working one way or another.

Final report, using Dolphin web browser with default settings seems to be key. Do not let dolphin be the default browser or change any browsing settings after you download it. I changed some things and it stopped working so I had to download and reinstall dolphin. Now it is working fine again.

Go it to work on my Droid with Mini Opera. The only problem was figuring out how to "hit enter" with Opera on the Droid . You have to hit the Menu button and select OK.

The picture is not full screen. Is it suppose to be??

i can get tv working on my droid but i keep getting alot of lag and audio syncing issues. does anyone know what settings i should be tweaking with?

It is full screen in Ggp.sdp setting. My TV sometimes stops working and wont work again until I uninstall and reinstall dolphin.

download Astro from market (file viewer)
download act 1 video player from market
now once you download that infamous sdp file from orb, open astro, look for sdp file in downloads folder and press on it till options come up.
choose to open as video and act 1 should show on list. choose act 1 and video will play...you may need too try more than once.
act 1 has option to zoom in and stretch video, which will cover all of screen.

It took a while to figure out and hopefully I can save some people time. It took some time and frustration but got everything working. This is my very first posting. I have a Moto Droid I purchased a couple days ago. I have not downloaded any additional browsers or media players. I am watching high quality live TV from my Orb account. There are a couple key steps in the process.

1) Sign up for an Orb account from your home computer (if you haven't)
2) Sign into your account from your home computer
3) Click Settings in the top right and select 3GP Format (.sdp)
4) Launch browser on Droid. Clear Cache and Cookies
5) Log into your your Orb account from your browser on your Moto Droid
6) IMPORTANT: Select Settings on bottom middle of page
7) IMPORTANT: Select Stream on top right of page
8) IMPORTANT: Select 3GP Format (.sdp). NOT AAC or AMR versions
9) Select Save

That should do it. Works great for me with Default browser and media player. Hope this helps....

Hi guys! I swear when I first got my droid streaming tv through orb was no problem at all, now it is a pain just to get it working and the video looks horrible. The only way I could get it going was with the sdp format. The other two just error out, which I swear they used to work. The sdp format when playing is very choppy and blocky with lots of shadow effects. Am I the only one with this issue? My stream speed is 250k on auto.

I have tried the sdp format through act1 and the default prog with the same crappy results.

ok I feel real stupid right about now . I tried this and it says Orb cannot detect a supported TV tuner; live TV is not available but you can still view and record internet TV and your custom channels.

Do I need a tv tuner (hardware ) installed in my PC ? what am I doing wrong ? anyone
