Root Anyone else being throttled?

My data speed has been horrible. 0.61Mbps down and 0.25Mbps up. I don't tether and don't stream video.
 
I notice the speed drop as well. I consistently hit 600-700 on the download.

This has been the case since I went on GB 588.

Haven't updated to the latest leak though, not sure if that would change..?
 
just call them and ask them why your being throttled and if you havent hit their "soft cap" yet of 5gb ask them why would they trottle you if your trying to use your phone and what your paying for and let us know how it went if you choose this route
 
I read over at another forum that this could be due to the built-in services within GB. There is a patch that you can install that'll remove the service which throttles.
 
Verizon did admit to me that they do throttle the top 5% of the data users. But they said i do not fall into that catagory and that I am not being throttled. They think my radio is bad so they are sending me a replacement overnight. Should be interesting to do some numbers on stock froyo, rooted froyo, and then GB.
 
I get those same poor data speeds on my phone with the exception of Verizon service. I'm on a prepaid plan using Verizon towers but I go through a 3rd party company for the service itself.

I don't know if this makes a difference or not.

This sucks bro Im sorry to hear that. I've noticed some weird speed on my phone, but not that low. I wonder if they are throttling us GB leak users? :p

But my speeds have been all over the place since speedtest.net app was updated. Gui interface is nice but seems to have lost some functionality in my mind.

Im interested to hear about the speeds on what you said above though.

Thanx for the input. but i am a 10 year non prepaid account. Since i am out of contract now they really want me to stay. they tried to get me to renew another 2 years with an iphone. LMAO.

Yeah i will do several tests and report back.
 
well replacement came today. Speeds are 3 times as fast across the board. no real difference from froyo to GB. I am getting 1.0-1.2Mbps down now. So it must have been the radio.

He's talking about the part of your phone that controls the radio signal that your phone sends and receives to and from the tower. That goes for 1X and 3G. Wifi and Bluetooth are controlled by different chips in your phone.
 
silly issue with the speedtest.net app..ran a few tests over 3G...i live on long island and on the new york, ny server - i consistently get .5-.8 down and .5-.7 up (ridiculously slow speeds)..i ran another test which for some reason ran on a newark, nj server and got 1.3 down and .9 up..

does that make sense? wth is going on..haha
 
A little off topic, but I'm being throttled by my Credit card company......lol :p

Ok, continue with the on topic stuff now :D
 
I just updated from .591 to .595 and my results in Speedtest have almost doubled. There must have been something funny going on in .591.
