Anyone else feeling better about their Bionic

I have having been hanging out of on the Razr side and from what I have been seeing I dont feel as upset about the Moto releasing another flagship phone so quick. Dont get me wrong I love my Bionic and it does everything and much more then I need it for but after seeing some of the battery reviews and data dropping the Razr is having I feel better. :D Seen where ppl not liking the size of the Razr and it gets warm when using it.

Anyone else been trolling over there and feel better after seeing some reviews?

Soo better, that I returned the Droid razr I preordered for a Bionic.

Why?

1. Battery drain is only slightly better than the Bionic, with no option to get an extended battery
2. Camera not much better, but the Razr has minimal or no shutter delay.
3. Actually wasn't a fan of the phone's feel. The thinness is cool, but it just felt less comfortable.
4. Save the upgrade for later when likely my wife will need it. She's in denial right now about needing it, and was upset i returned the razr, but her droid X is dying.
5. The faith factor: I have faith that the upcoming update will fix the issues that have been reported.

4. Save the upgrade for later when likely my wife will need it. She's in denial right now about needing it, and was upset i returned the razr, but her droid X is dying.

My wife is in the dental hygiene program, is that what your wife is in? Mine is in her 2nd year...

Wow....what can i say but i totally read dental where you said denial....lol well back on subjest now that i maid a arse of myself.

And it continues...the subjests and maids. J/K

I will always have buyer's remorse with this phone, and I will never buy another Motorola phone again. Unless they unlock the bootloaders, Motorola is the worst brand of android smartphones in my eyes.

Plus, instead of releasing quality phones every 6 months like the other brands, Motorola likes to release buggy/glitchy phones every 2 months. Come January, Razr owners are going to be pissed that Motorola released a better phone with ICS just 2 months after the Razr release.

Great question!

I was just at a Costco-like wholesaler and I stopped by the Verizon booth.

I feel even better now about my Bionic after checking out and playing with the Razr. I don't like how it fits in my hand...I like the Bionic feel and screen size.

And, before checking it out, didn't like the sealed battery to begin with.

My Bionic has me happy but I am looking forward to the update but I always look forward to updates :)

In the case of the Razr, they are offering the phone to carriers both locked and unlockable. Verizon obviously chose the lockable. It's looking like if you want a VZW unlockable bootloader, buy a Nexus device.

Just came from paying my bill at verizon where i happened to take time to play with the razr. Heres my thouhts on it.

Its awkward. Its extremely thin and a bit wider than the bionic. Maybe an otterbox would fix that issue but i just dont see it.
Poor quality housing in my opinion. This thing feels fragile. Very fragile. And cheap. The plastic is thin and not sturdy in the least little bit.
The battery issue of course. It doesnt come out and its not much stronger than the bionics if at all.
The bionic seems to operate faster. In the store i could navigate the home screens and open apps faster in my bionic. Maybe its that im comfortable with the bionic but i doubt it. They are pretty much the same as far as operation goes.

Happy with my bionic!

So to both of you, I ask this.....

Did it feel like you had a razor blade in your hand?

Not even close. felt like a small book. It's quite wide...it's a thin phone, I guess the hardware had to go somewhere.

The thinness is cool. But still felt bulky because of the width.

I'd like to know how the battery life on that non-removable is working out...I played with the dummy unit at my store today and I honestly hate the form factor. It's very sexy, but to be honest just not comfortable in my hand.

Then again, I'm a fan of my Bionic with the extended + case. I guess I just really like thick phones. I always liked my OG over my X for that reason.

Some people say they are happy with the Razr battery life, per their forum, and I see some of these (over on the GREENER side) in the Razr forum:

Set up incorrectly? He said he reset his phone to the factory settings....I'm experiencing horrible battery life too. Full charged over night, woke up, unplugged phone. Used it for about 10 minutes checking email, installed an app, read the news...put it down.

So, used it for 10 minutes, set it down. An hour later I check the phone, it's already down to 85% battery...that seems excessive drain.

I'm coming from an iPhone and I gotta say, as much as I hated the iPhone the battery was never an issue.

Everyone keeps saying "turn off the 4g" to improve battery life....What's the point of having it if we have to turn it off to get good battery life? (btw, i have 4g in my area) I really love this phone but if I have to turn off a bunch of it's features (ie: lower screen brightness, turn off 4g, etc) then it's like the features don't exist...

frustrated.......:(

So far my experience has been horrible with respect to battery. Today, mine has been off charger for 6hrs. 24min. and is already at 20% level, and this is with light usage and 4G turned off for about an hour today. :(

Well, I think I'll be sending this back. I'll probably have to take around a 20% hit on the price, so I'll probably end up getting a Galaxy S2. The battery on this has been nothing short of awful so far. Charged it last night, unplugged it at 1am, been to the gym this morning for a couple of hours, and it's dead. Completely gone, no juice whatsoever.

This is worse than my Desire HD, and I just don't understand it with such a big battery. :(

I too am getting poor battery life... charged it full and then unplugged and went to bed (smart action turns off 3g/4g and keeps wifi on which also shuts off when screens off) and when i woke up 9hrs later i was at 70% got my emails check Facebook and down to 40%. i might have a bad battery possibly but this doesn't seem right. I am charging now going to check 3g battery life but i shouldn't have to shut 4g off since thats why i wanted the phone, i also get good service here in mass, but we will see how it fares today. 33% of my battery (the most) was taking by android os while sleeping though so i could just have a draining phone (i did install go launcher for different themes maybe this is partial reason)

hmmm other then that i absolutely love this phone compared to the old droidx

Many are from this thread in the Razr forum:

Oh yeah, I'm very happy with my Bionic! :)

I just noticed that you tha

nk everyone who says anything good about the Bionic. LOL. Good thing there isn't a "No Thanks" button, because I would have probably received 30+ "No Thanks" from you. LOL.

Now who I thank or don't thank bothers you. LOL

Sorry Charlie!

I think you fellas need someone who actually has both devices to weigh in here.

Which is better is something coming up huh? To answer the question is simple...

There both really good devices...And that is the honest truth! Notice how I said GOOD, and not GREAT! No phone is perfect ....and neither of these 2 are close to perfect.

If u want to see hardcore comparisons, visit some of the treads me and a few others have up in the Razr forums.

Its like this...

Both have issues,

Bionics camera is just laughable ...how can that not get updated since launch if it's software related? Razr's camera is light years better....case closed!

Bionic has a brighter screen that's viewable outside with ease...Razr is Super Amoled that offers deeper blacks, and colors with more pop (vividness)
Both are good, depends on the user! I happen to like Super Amoled, so for me I side with the Razr.

Same UI....except Bionic is smoother!
Case closed...Bionic just moves more fluidly and looks to move with absolutely no lag what so ever...And from what I see, I was getting better speed scores on the Bionic vs the Razr on Speed Test. Net

Removable battery on Bionic is a need for some...some like me don't care! Which has better battery life? Ask that question in a week or so...To early to tell! But honestly, to me the Bionics battery is terrible, just terrible! So anything better is an improvement. People on 3G please save your comments, this is a 4G phone....Battery life is measured on how it performs while using 4G LTE, not 3G! If your getting 18hrs , but your on 3G, your statement is moot and not true to the real conversation here...Which is how these 2 phones perform while being used on 4G.

Size, Shape, Build Quality? Both are good, depends on who you ask? I prefer the size and shape of the Bionic honestly. Its just easier to use one handed and feels more natural. The Razr is a reallllly wide phone, and some are going to have issues! I have BIG hands and feel like its a tiny bit too wide IMO. However, build quality goes to the Razr...its a friggin tank! The Bionic creaks in certain areas, the Razr is as solid as a piece of steel...This one really depends on the user as well.

Call quality? Razr by a long shot! Its one of, if not the best phone I've ever used to make a call on. I had to go through 3 Bionics in order to find one with decent call quality, and its still not as clear and loud as the Razr I have. IMO its a no contest...Razr wins hands down!

But in the BIG picture of things...it all depends on the user. If you just bought a Bionic a month ago you may feel used in the fact that you weren't expecting another Moto flagship phone out so quick, you should have those feelings...It's crazy how fast this phone came out!

However, I can't lie, you still have a good phone on your hands that with an update to the camera, and maybe something to fix that Black screen of death some of us get...Its a decent phone that packs alot of power! Battery life is what it is with 4G right now. Until someone can Put a big 2,500mAh battery in a phone and keep it slim...this argument will keep goin on.

Plus there is 2 other BIG shots coming to the party ....Rezound and Galaxy Nexus!

Lol....gotta luv this Vicious Cycle of never ending phones with one being marketed as being better then the one that just came out! Ughhhh my poor Amex card..lol

I checked out the Razr on 2011.11.11 with the owner of my Verizon Wireless store. Looked at my Bionic and a new Razr side-by-side. I came to the conclusion that there was room for both of them and both would be around for a few years.

I prefer the Bionic case "look" and "feel". I did not try the camera.

He did point out ti me that they have an external battery that you can plug into the Razr. That sentence it the sum total information I have on it.

I was there for about an hour. One person was in the process of buying a Razr when I arrived. That was the only Razr sale while I was there.

He said rumor was that 4G would be coming to town a little sooner than expected. When I reported lack of 3G for a few hours now and then his response was ... good ... probably means theyr'e working on it.

I like my Bionic. I have to. I'm not in a position to sell, trade, or otherwise shell out more bucks for another phone. My Bionic works great for me...great call quality and volume...in fact, I usually have to turn the volume down, because it's too loud. My only issue is the service handling/drop issues, and I'm just patiently waiting for the update. I don't know why everybody is so competitive with these phones...it's not a competition. Or is it?

I'm assuming you ment to say the Bionic is brighter. Razr offers deeper blacks.

The RAZR at 100% is about as bright as the Bionic at 40%.
