anyone else have "halo effect"

OK, everyone so far experiencing the halo effect:

  1. Has your phone ever gotten extremely hot since you've owned it (as in almost unbearable to hold
  2. Are you still on System version 5.5.886....
  3. have you dropped your phone since you've owned it, enough to possibly do some internal damage?

1. No, never. Even after extended use.
2. 5.5.892
3. Um...yeah, that might be the culprit. :D

Sounds like maybe some of the internals have warped or shifted (maybe due to high temperatures or being dropped) in the phones pushing the LCD panel closer to the touch panel? The only thing I can see causing this is direct pressure on the LCD panel itself, just like if you poke an LCD monitor/TV (I don't recommend doing this).

The touch glass should be protecting the LCD panel from this. I pressed hard and noticed the same thing but I would never normally press that hard on the screen. Something has happened to change the gap between the LCD and the gorilla glass on some of these phones. Either that or the LCD panels are now somehow more sensitive to pressure.

no i have never dropped it....its my baby! i dont press the screen hard...i lightly tap it. I do use blur....I havent said its a huge deal....just wanted to know if i should be concerned that it started. It is kinda of a bluish glow....so guess its normal. i am much more concerned with the loss of data at times!

Well, maybe we can help with the data issue. Are you in a strong 4G area? If not, you'll want to make sure you have your Bionic set to CDMA only mode. You can do this by going to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Network Mode and from there select CDMA only. That would be if you're in a 3G area or if 4G is weak.
