Help anyone else having gmail issues?

Any new info on this?

Without gmail my device is essentially just a portable netflix machine

i have tried cache-cleaner
i have tried clearing data and cache within settings
i have tried uninstalling all gmail updates

it is very sporadic. sometimes works fine, sometimes goes to a black screen all of a sudden and eventually just closes the app

often enough where i cannot use the device to check email at all

Does the web access work through your browser?

I've had no problems with GMail for some time. I would suspect a conflict with another app on your device.

I have been suffering since the last update. Gmail will just stop mid-stream, then crash to the home screen. The issue still seems evident even after removing all the updates/cache etc.

Exactly my experience

Any update JAy?

None yet. :/

Out of interest what Anti virus are you using rsarno? Avast here.

I have Addon Detector installed which easily lists the install date of apps so I may go through that and remove the ones newly installed and see if that helps.

OK, so I have the first transformer (didn't even notice this was the wrong forum when I posted earlier), but I've been have the exact same e-mail problems that many of you are describing here. The only thing that has seemed to work for me was uninstalling SPBShell, which I had been using for a home replacement.

I doubt many of you are using that home replacement (definitely not worth the money), but if you're using a home replacement at all, it might be worth removing it. I've noticed that a lot of the issues my tablet seemed to be having (gchat crashing, gmail crashing, chrome browser crashing, games crashing) seem to have all but vanished.

Why not use the stock email app and for Gmail? Can you access gmail through the browser? I use the Boat browser and have very few problems. I don't use Gmail so I'm just offering suggestions.

The stock email app is quite weak, which is why my wife's emails use that and I use the Gmail app. The issues are directly linked to the Gmail app and the Prime by the looks of it, just need to work out what is causing it.

Gmail crashed 4 times in a row just now. :(

Try Enhanced Email. It supports the labels. I use it for my work email, which uses MS Exchange. I use the GMail app for my personal email, and except for a short period of weirdness, which I think was a GMail problem, not a Prime problem, it has worked on my Prime and my Galaxy S. When it was wonky, it was wonky on both platforms.

No.

Sadly I have gotten into the habit of using my TF201 as a netflix machine in bed.

The other day i went to check emails and gmail crashed, then i said to myself "damnit i forgot, ok screw emails ill check them later" and i opened Browser and proceeded to my fav pornsite

maybe 6 or 7 links/vids later, and the TF201 rebooted

i was just seconds away from throwing it against the wall and then stomping on it

I would really like Asus or gmail to acknowledge this so i know someone is assuming fault and will fix it eventually. Instead they are pointing fingers, i guess.

It looks like we are not the only ones having issues.

Check out Gmail in the Play Store, look at the reviews and then filter them to only include ones from your device. (Of course do this on your Prime) Many people reporting the crash issues with their Primes!

I have also started a support thread @Google to see if we can get things resolved:
Google Groups

And I have to say their support page (as above) will NOT work on the Prime using the default browser or Dolphin HD.. Fan-bloody-tastic, have to use my PC!! Makes perfect sense...

Gave up on Gmail today. Crashed countless times, far too unstable to use. Now sync'ed up using the other email app on the Prime until the issues are addressed. :(

OK, again, I know, wrong tablet, but this might help.

I was pretty fed up with the gmail app. I also noticed that the thing was rebooting, lagging, force closing all the time. A factory reset seems to have fixed it all. It's probably not the solution anyone was looking for, but it worked wonders for me.

You know what, that only bloody well worked! Re-instated Gmail 2 days ago and have been pushing it as much as I can with no problems. :)

Thanks LaFlavor, forgot about the soft reset.

And another one with intermittent Gmail issues. I'm pretty confident that it's Google. I'm having problems syncing my calendar as well. When you go to Settings > Sync I see a message that "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly".

I'm just about to open a thread on this to see if anyone else has the same problems and whether the two are linked?

This has been an ongoing issue for me for over two months. No help from Google despite regularly using the report facility.

This is the biggest problem with Google. There really is noway to contact them to get any sort of feedback! It drives me loopy and something I struggle with, I mean a company that controls so much of our online lives (Gmail,Android,YouTube,Google+) and they give us practically noway to get any sort of help when you have problems. :(

I totally agree Jay.

However, Asus must to a certain extent be responsible.

The supply the unit with Gmail incorporated in to the operating system. Admittedly, they can not control what Google do but they can assist in trying to find out why their units are not compatible.

I personally am leaning towards the notion that it is a firmware issue which is conflicting with Google. Google apps are working faultlessly on my Galaxy S2 running Gingerbread. Equally, there are TF201 users who seem to have the Google suite working for them, I'm just wondering whether this is because they are on a differenct firmware. If this is the case then it would be Asus who would be responsible for pushing out a corrupted firmware which does not synnc as it should.

I agree that there is a lot of sloping shoulders from both Google and Asus, with each believing that it is the others responsibility to fix the problem:boxing:. Meanwhile, we have a tablet that is not functioning as intended:banghead:.
