Help anyone else seeing the signal bars completely disappear?

I don't understand why you say that. Perhaps VZW is having issues with their network, but I had a BB for 3 years and the connection at my home was just never a problem. At home with this phone, I only rarely see a 4G connection, which is fine, but the phone often cannot get enough 3G to connect to the web. I will give up 4G for a reliable 3G at this point.

I called tech support, got a ticket number, but no call back. My guess is they are buried right now.

Not sure what to try next: Bionic, Rezound, iPhone - but I may just buy the one with the best signal strength at the store.

Your BB is 3G phone. Only 4G phones are affected by Verizon LTE network issue. You may turn off 4G on nexus to get more stable 3G at home.

Count me in on the unreliable voice and data signal on the "nation's fastest, most reliable 4G network".

OK, so based on what you're saying I just need to get use to the fact that the 'newest and greatest phone' has a 4g signal that sucks, where the old 3g signal on my Dinc was perfect (in two years I honestly can't recall ever having a dropped call). I get it now, one step forward, two steps back! :(

you're free to draw your own conlusions.

anyone lose 3g and 4g signal right now? i am sitting here for about 20 min with 3 gray bars and no 3g or 4g indicator. didnt know if verizon is having another outage of if it was just my phone.

Yeah I have no signal, restarted my phone, have 1 to 2 bars but they are grey. Ridiculous.

OK, so it's not just me. In the south bay area in CA - signal and service has been absolutely perfect for me until today. Sometime this morning, signal started dropping... now the phone gets at best 3G, but it's disconnecting from that about half the time and staying on 1X w/ no data. Airplane mode and rebooting the phone make no difference. 4G hasn't happened since I woke up this morning.

So this is the 'usual' outage, and not a hardware issue?

I'm just hoping that my V'n rep/mangr was serious when saying that they were just testing 4g all over and that was wiping out numerous, even 3grs, and requiring a removing-then-returning with sim...
but I'm new here, and to smartphones, so I only relaying info....

I only have 2 bars of 3G at home now where I usually get 3 bars of 4G....WTF

Should I go back to my TB and wait for some of the newer phones next year? Or will there be a fix via software updates coming soon and keep the Gnex?

I have not even had 3G all day.. 1-3 gray bars just good enough for phone-zero data.

This is just my personal opinion, but I think software updates may improve things slightly, but I think we're just dealing with a weaker radio. :(

It doesn't help that Verizon claims there are no signal issues...

yeah all my bars disappeared again yesterday, but only for a minute or two. verizon's been screwing up again.

All bars diappeared yesterday too on my buddy's bionic. Verizon needs to start offering us credit if this is going to continue......

This problem is with the phone. I have a GSM unlocked Nexus I am using on T-Mobile and my signal will erratically go from 3 bars H to 1 bar 3G them back to 4 bars H and I have not touched or moved the phone. Last night I had no signal what so ever in a store I used to make calls from all the time with my myTouch 4g (need to know what flavour of ice cream the wife wanted).
Signal is a problem......:(

Nope. I have no idea what's going on with your unlocked gsm on tmoble's network, but the signal drop on verizon's network is affecting multiple 4g phones, as I posted earlier.

I am having the disappearing signal bar issue and it has been affecting my work lately since I depend on my phone for emails when I am out of the office. I bought my Gnex on launch day, but did not start seeing this issue until earlier this week. Yesterday was really bad, but I'm hoping I can attribute that to the outage although I keep my phone on CDMA only unless I really need to use 4G. I still had the issue this morning until I rebooted the phone. It has been working normally since then. I hope the next update will fix this. Otherwise, this is a fantastic device.

its nice to see im not the only one. My data has been going on and off constantly. i have 4g this morning. but cant even sent a picture message to a friend? seriously this is starting to bug me.

That makes sense

I had this same issue with the first Nexus I got, as well as the second one I got on exchange just to make sure the first wasn't a bad apple. Problem persisted up until today when I finally (and somewhat reluctantly) gave it up for a Rezound.

It's night and day. The Rezound holds a better signal and manages the hand off between 4G and 3G very well. Where both my Nexuses would regularly show "searching for service", at the most inopportune times, the Rezound has no problem making a call from places just a day ago I could not with the Nexus.

Granted, there's been network issues as of late, but I'm convinced there's something going on with the Nexus' radios on at least some of the devices that have made their way into the hands of the public.

If it gets remedied, I'll be back...it's a sweet device....but it has to work as a phone first and foremost and maddeningly, it just couldn't do that for me.

hate to break it to you, but it's happening on other phones too. some are affected, and some aren't. you returned your GN and downgraded for nothing
