Anyone else snag a TouchPad during the fire sale?

I broke down and ordered one off eBay. I've had three orders cancelled thus far, and figure I have a snowballs chance in hell of getting one at the firesale price. I'm excited to see how I compares to the iPad.

Same here.

1. NIB 32 gb for $280 shipped. Seller sold 400 of them for the same price.
2. Used one week 16 gb, HP case, Zagg screen protector for $200 shipped.

Both are due tomorrow, so doubt you'll find me on the treadmill. :D

Already have two Touchstones, Acase screen protector (3 pack) from Amazon (hope that wasn't a mistake) and one HP case overdue from Amazon. I've never been a fan of the Zagg... too sticky.

First priority will be to update/tweak/overclock the dang thing, then maybe put up a couple of guides.

I havent even thought of accessories yet, but I like my phone/ tablet naked. I have covering up the X as it has such a unique feel, and it's borderline criminal to enclose the iPad, bulking it up and diminishing its beauty. I have a feeling that I I'll look for an envelope to throw it in a backpack, but keep it in it's birthday suit while in use.

I want a Touchstone so bad it hurts. There are a few in stock around town, but they're at full price. I paid $150 for the tablet. I can't pay $70 for a charger for the dang thing.

The touchstone does look pretty damn sweet, but i get what you mean about not wanting to drop half the price of the device into a charging station. I use the charging dock for my phone at night but only because it is small enough to resemble an alarm clock. I could see using the touchstone if one had a nice desk or coffee table, something where one could display pictures and such, but only if i could get it at the right price, seventy bucks not being the right price.

Here's how I got my Touchstones...

Go to officemax and print out the page for the touchstone, put it in your wallet. :D
That page has an instore-only price of $39.99 and an expiration date for 12/31... perfect.

Go to Walmart.com and see if you have any available in your area. The small town where I grew up and visit a couple times a month, had 5 of them priced at $79.99, even tho the online price was half that.

If you can find one, use your price-match. Otherwise, you may find one in a different store and you might be able to price-match there too.

Hmmm.... I can't find it on Walmart right now. Guess I should have bought them out when I had a chance.

$40 is still a bit steep for me. It would need to drop to the $20-30 range.

I was thinking of using it basically in the kitchen as a media player. Especially if I can get it set up with Orb.

@colchiro You should have bought em all. You could join the legions of entrepreneurs on eBay and make your fortune!

@ A.nonymous. I like the idea. Stand takes up hardly any room when not in use, and would work great if one was working of a recipe. Damn, now I want one.

Honestly, I'm not sure the 32 GB one is worth it at $280. I've got one and I've got a 7" Galaxy Tab that I paid the same price for as a refurb. The Tab is better IMO just because of it's size, 3G capabilities and app support. For $280, you're getting something that basically has the same abilities as an un-rooted NC IMO (which I also owned at one point this year). I'm not sure it's worth it at that price. Personally, I wouldn't pay that much for it. At $200, the 16 GB is not that bad a deal with the accessories. Might be a tad overpriced, but you pay a bit of a premium on ebay sometimes and that could easily account for it. I hope you get them both and enjoy them though.

Please check with your local stores! ABC Warehouse (Great Lakes Region) had 16gb HP TouchPads for $99 on sale today in-store. All stores had 15 quantity each. They sold out fast.

Best bet is to go to a store and get an internal liaison who will text you etc when a shipment is due. Then be there when they open that morning.

Bottom line: There are rumored deals to be had leading up to the Labor Day weekend. But, most if not all, are in-store deals.

I had 5 orders cancelled. One of them was with CDW. 2 weeks after I ordered CDW sent me an email saying they received more and could fulfill my order if I still wanted it. I have 2 16gb Touchpads being delivered tomorrow for $224 after tax and shipping. :D

It sucks to have purchased one for more than the $99 (or $149) that many people got.

I bought a lightly used 16 gb with case and Zagg for $200 for my wife, but I paid $280 for my NIB 32 gb on fleeBay. I'm sure the Zagg screen protector is coming off tho. I hate that sticky feeling.

With all of these reported shortages, I am surprised they do not setup a production line just to build discontinued products. Smiley.
