anyone finding this in stock today?

They don't have 42,000 units. Thats what they call virtual inventory but not too many customer service reps know that.

Their system was never designed to handle backorders. They tell the system they have phones (when they really don't) so they can continue to take orders. It's a workaround.

Well that sucks.

I really hope I get it by the 30th before I leave on vacation.

Just out of curiosity, what went wrong with your phone? My screen started to scramble around noon yesterday as I was heading out of the office. I stopped by a store to have them look at it, but of course it started acting normal as soon as I pulled into the parking lot. It started up again around 4:00 and never came back. The CSR thought it was a software glitch. I knew that they were pretty much sold out and was prepared to be without it for a week.

The CSR and manger worked hard to find me another one. It may be worth it to call CS or stop in a store again to see if any other local stores received some surprise shipments yesterday or today. The CSR looked up stores in several zip codes and several were showing stock. The one I finally got a replacement from wasn't expecting it and no one had come in to buy one in several hours. You may just get lucky like I did.

It was just weird. When I got it the battery showed 80% when I first put it in the phone. I immediately activated it. I proceed to just follow the instructions and setup gmail, corporate email, facebook and twitter.

I showed it off to a couple of folks, snapped a picture to check out the camera and put it on my desk to go to the restroom. Came back and it was totally dead. It would not respond to the power button, a battery reset or actual power.

So I went to a Verizon store in Columbia, SC and hoped it was a faulty battery and a new one would resolve the problem. But it didn't. And they sold all 60 they had received and looked in the area and couldn't find anything nearby.

I just went back to work and called Verizon and the replacement is on the way. I did decide to take the battery out last night and let is sit a couple of hours just for the hell of it. It came back up and showed 0% on the battery. I threw the power to it and as it rose I was able to use it again. But I woke up this morning and it is dead again.

Bad luck I guess. I don't anticipate getting my DX now until a week to ten days. But at least I was able to reactivate my original Moto Droid.
