Help Anyone getting "connection" or "authentication" errors when running "Software update check"?

I know that 2.3 is not out quite yet:

T-Mobile G2x getting Gingerbread 'sooner than you'd expect,' may not be a quad-band handset -- Engadget

...but when running the same on my T-Mo Defy, it responded with a "No updates available, your system is up to date" (just got Froyo on Friday coincidentally).

Same issue with me too, connection and authentication error message. I just updated my Defy to Froyo too. I don't see anything online about this error message.

Crazy how the Defy's battery life is "doubled" with this update.

Why? And is this just speculation, or did you read this from some official source?
