Anyone got the New Version of Maps Yet ..?

Not sure why people don't have the straight to navigation icon: it's still there in my App drawer and I just checked and it still works, taking me direct to tne new navigation screen - could it be related to 4.3

Somewhat ironically, I never use the navigation icon and didn't have it on my home screen before the upgrade ..

As for maps error-ing, that sounds like some kind of incompatibility. Assuming it's not an incompatibility with your version of Androids (a bit of a rash assumption :D), I think I would back everything up, do a factory reset, get maps back up to date if required, then try it again BEFORE installing anything else.

Assuming maps then works, I would start adding my apps back, one or two at a time, trying things for a day before adding back more apps .. until maps stops working. Then you have a pretty good idea which app to avoid.

If you don't want go through all that, you could try using something like OsmAnd until Google sort their .. stuff .. out :D

I've seen one post saying that the icon disappeared after the update, then reappeared after a reboot. Perhaps rebooting would make it come back.

Agreed. I usually hold the search button for Google voice command then say "Navigate to wherever".

Did think of suggesting it but I wasn't sure if it's possible so simply remove the latest update or whether removing updates puts you way back to some pre-iceage version ..

I don't know what version most people will get by uninstalling updates but mine is decent enough. However, one user had a backup of the latest pre-7 version and was kind enough to put it up for all of us:
