Root Anyone had success with Ally wifi tethering?

easiest way is thru cmd or terminal on a pc
and look back at a thread like how to root to mount the /system as read and write capabilities and you must do this at the # (root prompt) type su if you are at $ and rooted still

Ok, went through the root process from the beginning and at the end successfully removed the superuser. With the rm command

Thanks

I need some help with using Barnacle Wifi Tether... It's working on the phone, but windows 7 times out. Any suggestions?

do you have the wifi sleep policy on your phone set to always on. by default i think its set to turn off after awhile when the screen turns off

You'll probably have to root your Nook to be able to see an ad hoc network. I know the Simple Touches are easy to root, but I don't know of any ad hoc support.

Check XDA for more info.

You may need a kernel supporting ad hoc networks too. I have experience with stock Nook Touches, but I have no clue what's out there for support.

I thought the wifi tethering the Ally used supported infrastructure mode?

The one packages with Velocity does. It won't work with other ROMs unless they have a kernel modified to allow tethering in infrastructure mode though, IIRC.

I use (or used as my phone got ran over the other day) Velocity ROM on my Ally and the tethering works flawlessly and speeds are great. I have used it with both Velocity 1.1 and 1.2.
