Anyone have a reboot tip?

Does anyone have a tip on how to easily and quickly reboot the Galaxy Note? I am looking for either an app or a way to simply initiate a reboot on the note because I ran into a problem today on my Note where I seem to be stuck in the "Apps" window and I can't seem to get back to "Home" or anything else for that matter. I can open any app from here, but interestingly it's as if the "apps" window is not my home window. Any ideas on this?

Whole it would be nice if someone knew why I am stuck here, I would still like for the future an easy reboot app or something similar. If I click and hold the side button it just allows me to go into Airplane mode, Silent mode, or Power off. In this case I am going to power off and restart, but a reboot would ne nicer and easier. Any ideas would be great!

Thanks!

well that kinda sux :( my device isn't rooted, and I had no plans to root it either. booo! I recall with my Inspire there were a few apps to reboot it and they didn't need root. That's strange that I would need root just to do a reboot. Are you sure I would need root? Im gonna take a look in google play again..

Well I found a fast reboot app that just dumps all your apps and reloads all your system apps which seems to do just what I need it too. It's called Fast Reboot in google play. Doesn't need root and does just what I need. Sadly I keep pushing Sumsung, and AT&T and neither one is giving me anything on ICS. They won't budge on telling me anything regarding when it's coming out for us. The only good new is that both have indicated on their sites that the Galaxy Note is on the list for a release sometime this quarter. Sadly, they never keep to their documented dates :(

Thanks though guys, I think I was able to get what I needed out of this app!

Cheers!

just press and hold the power button until it restarts itself
Sorry this is not meant to sound rude as I do appreciate all the helpful replies everyone gives me here, but Zenstrive, I you had read my post you would have seen that in my post I stated that pressing and holding the side button was not rebooting the device as it should. Per my initial post...

"If I click and hold the side button it just allows me to go into Airplane mode, Silent mode, or Power off. In this case I am going to power off and restart, but a reboot would ne nicer and easier. "

So it had been there tried that, however, based on a combinations of the replies before, I have found a fast reboot that works without root that solved my problem. Basically all I needed to resolve this was an app that did a soft reboot, really all it does is kills off all open apps, then restarts just the system apps that are needed to run. The rest of the apps will start up on their own or have to wait until I manually restart them. So thanks for the replies, I am doubting no one (self included) will ever be able to tell what caused this complete oddness of the phone. I suspect it's probably a bug or memory leak somewhere in the GO Launcher EX or one of it's apps.

So I am good, thanks all!

Why then you need task XP or Fast Reboot.

With Task XP you can choose which apps to kill, or kill everything at once, and then it will load the launcher and essential apps.

And when I say hold until restart, I meant it: just press the power button, don't pick any options, just press and hold it until the galaxy note restarts itself.

Correct.....
It is easy to assume just because the option is not mentioned it won't do the task.
Zenstrive is quite correct. The option is there, just carry on holding the power button down until the device automatically reboots itself.

Yes while in theory holding down that button should work, my point and the reason for the post was because my phone was in a funky state and while holding this button should have done the reboot, it was not doing so, hence the reason why I posted. Also guys, please understand that I am not trying to give you guys a hard time as it's the last thing I want to do when everyone here has been so awesome in helping me through even the silliest of questions, but I feel as though people we not reading my original post or even the post I wrote where I reported that I found what I needed, and that was an app called "Fast Reboot" as I needed something that would shut down all apps, (hopefully it also killed what ever app caused me to get into such a wonky state to begin with) because even after I wrote that post, someone suggested that I use an app called "Fast Reboot" even after I stated that I already got that app and it did in deed fix my issue.

I was not arguing with anyone when I was stating that holding the buttom didn't initiate a reboot, I was merely stating that in the state my device was in, that option was not taking hold and working. I could have held the button down all day and the device was not rebooting, so something was inhibiting my device from rebooting via conventional means. This is why I wanted to find an application and did find "Fast Reboot".

So again, I would like to thank everyone for their assistance with yet another one of my n00bie silly questions, but as someone pointed out, a forum with out questions is a waste of a forum. I by no means was attempting to call out anyone or give anyone a hardtime, I just wanted to point out that even after answering my own questions / issue, the same resolution was given to me again. I just want to insure that everyone read the OP as well as the replies as I by no means want to waste anyone's time in answering something that was already answered, I would much rather that one saves themselves for when I ask my really dumb questions, and trust me, they will come! lol

Infact I haven't got a dumb question coming, but I have an app coming my way from a unix developer which will aid in cleaning up the SDCard when you have one that has been used from device to device and now has a lot of junk and empty directories. Once I have said app, I will post it on here for everyone to enjoy as from what I can tell there is no such beast and the Droid OS and apps are notorious for not cleaning up after itself very well. Once the app is ready I will post it in this forums under a new titled thread as a way of thanking everyone for their help since I became a member here. This has been one of the more active forums and the people here never cease to amaze me by rarely letting a question go unanswered. This is definitely my favorite Droid related forum site and that can only be accomplished by the extraordinary membership here. So please accept my apology if anyone felt unappreciated or insulted by my comments here in this reply. By no means was this reply meant to have done that.

Thanks again guys, this issue has now been resolved and the reboot does now work fine when I hold the button, I just wish there was a way to indicate what app may have been causing the issues. I do not suppose that the droid OS has any internal logging of issues it was encountering does it?

Thanks again!

Cheers!

All I do is hold in my power button for about 15 seconds and it seems to restart the phone. The Samsung symbol comes up and then it takes a few seconds until it comes back to the home screen. If you hold it in for a short time, it brings up the menu but you have to hold it longer until you see Samsung on the screen.

Thanks for all the responses!

I'm thinking that I had an app that was blocking this from working as I removed a bunch of apps and tried it again and now it is working, but if you noticed in my original posts, for some reason, the phone, no way, no how was rebooting no matter how long I held the button pushed in. I wish I had just uninstalled one app at a time and tested it out after each one so that I may have been able to figure out which app was causing the problems.

I recently found another issue, unrelated to this but I will just make note of it here until I have time to enter a new thread as I want to check if it's already been reported, however, if you use wikimobile2, it's now using Push Ads by Leadbolt. I had to dump that app as well since I do not like push ads in my notification bar. It seems that they may have just added this to the ap as I hadn't been receiving these push ads until the other day when the last update came out for that app. Just an FYI for anyone who may be using it.
