I'm on 2.1 and I still can't get file transfer to work. I'm wondering if it's ever actually been done with an Eris.

Thank you,
PC49:)

i just got a new laptop with bluetooth and did it just to do it ... it really had no purpose but it was a success :) .. btw dell adamo win7, droid eris leak v3

Thank you both! I'm so glad that it works! I have asked before and gotten pretty much nowhere. This is like having the other half of the phone! Now to get it working on mine...

Are you guys both using the Bluetooth File Transfer program? I can only get to "searching" and the wheel keeps spinning, but nothing happens. I'm trying to connect to my Dell XPS M1530.

timmywa,

I still haven't gotten Bluetooth File Transfer to work, but I did get Astro to work, thanks to you. I appreciate the help more than I can write! Thank you!:D

I meant OS on the computer, but it sounds as if it is not accepting the authentication to the PC. Delete the connection and put it Eris in discovery mode. Then from the PC, connect to the Eris and confirm (on the phone) that you want to pair. I have never tried to pair from the phone to PC, so that may be the problem... PC to phone, no problem.

No luck with the Bluetooth File Transfer to my HP laptop with a Rocketfish BT USB card. It can see the computer and whatnot but when it tries to transfer a photo back and forth the phone hangs and eventually if i back out of it it brings up a force close regarding the service or something. Rather weird. This was with a 2.1 OTA (yes factory reset)

I have been using my ANYCOM Bluetooth adapter to get the signal. Is there anyway that I can get the signal without the USB adapter? My computer does have Bluetooth on it, but I can't really find anything that works like the USB does.

Does the screen shot below help at all with the OS question? Sorry for my ignorance here.

EDIT: Picture removed

I tried the Astro bluetooth plugin and successfully transferred a file from my macbook. One thing to keep in mind is that you have to accept the bluetooth connection on the Eris from the notification bar, and also accept the incoming file transfer. If you don't do this, the computer just sits there waiting. This was not totally obvious to me upon first try.

It may be possible, but not likely that your USB BT does not support obex file transfers. Connect to the phone and make sure you accept the pair request. I have an old USB BT dongle and it works, so I do not think it is at fault. It may also be a Vista problem... it sucks with permissions to devices.

hey ive noticed that with my eris anyways that it doesnt let me connect through my phone, i have to connect with the other device. For some reason the bluetooth doesnt seem to like connecting unless you connect into it. Has anyone else had this problem?
