Help Anyone have this problem

Instaaraqi

Lurker
I need help guys! My phone is rooted so I chose to switch my emojis to apple emojis with an app called emoji switcher. It didn't work like literally nothing happened so my phone rebooted and everything went back to normal. When I opened up IG and Snapchat, my emojis didn't show up as "emojis" anymore. Instead they showed up as boxes. How do I solve this problem help me! I have a nexus 5 if that helps. This photo will help you see what Im seeing

Easiest way would be to download another keyboard like SwiftKey which has full emoji.
Other than that it's gonna get harder I think
EDIT, you're on a nexus. Does that use Google Keyboard?
If so, go to Settings, applications, ALL, find Google keyboard, uninstall updates then update it and "hopefully" that "might" fix it
Either that or since you're rooted, install a temporary keyboard. Uninstall Google keyboard then install it again.
(sorry I don't know what kb nexus use. In just guessing it's Google?

Yup still nothing worked. I don't think the problem is with the keyboard..I believe it has somehting to do with the phone itself..probably something in the settings changed

Yeah you could be right but I have no idea what that is. You may have to reflash it unless someone who knows how emoji work comes along.
Sorry

Someone else said I have to flash the uninstaller zip. I don't mean to take your time but can you please explain what flash is? Or how to do it

If they offer an uninstaller .zip, that is flashed (installed) via recovery. Unless otherwise stated, leave it zipped when you download it to your device, boot into your (assumed) custom recovery, choose the "install" option, navigate to the downloaded .zip, and install (flash) it. ;)

^^This. Lucky it comes with an uninataller :thumbsupdroid:
And dont worry about my time. I do this because I'm a sad bastard, fascinated by Android who gets a buzz from helping others :thumbsupdroid:

I don't even no how it worked but I chose to install custom recovery cwm and I installed some zip thing and it worked I'm so happy...now I have my emojis and a custom recovery

Now that you have a custom recovery, use it to make a "nandroid" backup (a backup of the complete phone)
Then if anything like this happens again, just restore the backup.
DO IT NOW!
