Root Anyone have wireless tether working on AlienDroid?

I flashed the AlienDroid yesterday and the wirelss tethering doesn't work. Tried 3.1 BETA14 ,3_2-beta2.apk, doesn't work.


Anyone succeed with this?

No, neither the "USB tether" nor the "wireless tether" in the setting menu work . The "wireless tether" one, my computer can connect to the cellphone, but still can not surf the Internet.

Did you verify that the phone has 3G/4G data connectivity before trying the WiFi tether? Turn your WiFi off on the phone and make sure you can still get to the Internet.

Yeah, the phone is connected to Internet through 4G and it works. The WIFI is off. I can connect my PC to the tethering WIFI offered by my phone but the PC is not connected to Internet, there's a yellow question mark on the wireless signal bar of PC.

Is your PC set to a static IP address? If it is, Try a dynamic IP address.

No, my PC gets IP automatically.

No, I'm using the the default AlienDroid V 1.0 without any change. Can you tell me the version of your Wireless Tether and your settings? Thank you.

I don't use an app. I go to Menu>System Settings

Under Wireless & networks I touch More...>Tethering & portable hotspot

I then check "Set up Wi-Fi hotspot" and hit the check box once I'm done entering the settings.

On the wifi tether app make sure your settings are for generic ICS wlan0 and check the routing fix box.

Thank you. On the phone, it no longer pops up the "error" message and it seems to be working. There's a new problem.

The SSID on my cellphone is the default "Android Tether" and I didn't hide the SSID broadcast. But on my PC's signal bar, I can't find the "Android Tether" icon or any other similar icon so I can't connect to it.

BTW, do you know why someone above just with the same phone/ROM/Carrier as mine and can use the default wireless tether but not me?

Download the latest one on the google page, that fixed it for me when I had to install a sense based rom for 4g.
