Root Anyone KEEPING their Triumph?

i bougth the evo and i donate the triumph to my wife ...the only thing good on the evo is the 4g speed and no cap on the internet i already use over 4 gigabytes en less than a week and still working at full speed ...i miss my triumph

I will be keeping it for a while. I was happy when the dev's made it usable.

For anyone doubting how good the Triumph can be try the "Sharp" rom, it needs to have mms fixed but it improves almost all other flaws (gps lock, battery etc.) and does it in "Froyo". I suggest everyone try it and you will be pleasantly surprised.

keeping my triumph for another year or so and most importantly my $25 plan :D
If it dies, I'm buying another one.

My Triumph is comfortable to hold and does what I need. I agree with what was said on the Sharp Rom. I can switch to EVO V and am doing little video on it now. Somethings about the phone that custom ROMs will never fix that I find a tad bit annoying. Yes phone big beautiful responsive screen and way faster phone. BUT... watching movies wear headphone as the external speaker sound lower then what you would expect to come out of a big phone. Placement of back camera double lenses too big and awkward for comfortable hold, fingerprint smears. Using a case would help inset the camera but external speaker on the side of camera lens might block or lessen already low sound. 3D camera novelty wore off after 5 min it really hurts my eyes to look at. Aside from camera placement it feels heavy like solid phone. But again camera lens noticeable blemish though good pictures. There is an annoying buzz I found with most headphones I tried on apps and games heavy on 3D even the clock widget when it changes time or flip home screens.. it buzzes. Once you know it's there you notice the buzz more often. I hope it is just thing with headphone jack and not the actual graphics. I do know that with building computers systems the buzzing sound coming through speakers when using mouse was evidence of a grounding problem that was easy fix with clear fingernail polish on the risers to the case. If this buzzing is that would make sense why people are having restart issues on only some phones. Just a hypothesis but not tested. I know my big computer hardware better then phone hardware so throwing a guess. Hope my picking makes the grass seem little less green on other side. Technology grows fast and there will be better soon.

Some development might be leaving for the other phone but those that are grandfathered in I think are staying for a bit. Would be fun to learn on this phone. Maybe some fresh things might be coming from others.

Off-topic: This is mstechify on YouTube isn't it?! That's awesome! :D
Didn't know that you were a rooted member

somewhere I had another username and I kinda burn candles both ends had not been on this site posting for a bit. switch internet companies and emails, lost passwords, so started a new log-in... but ya (sheepish grin)... this be me.

I'm not keeping my triumph. I have so many problems with it that I am so fed up with. The audio won't switch into the "high level" anymore, and stays like 15dB down. The camera sucks unless you're pointing it basically directly into the sun, the screen accuracy is terrible, my charging port is breaking, WIFI breaks all my routers, battery life is god awful.

Hopefully going to TMobile with a Galaxy Nexus soon.

Yes I am keeping my Motorola Triumph on Virgin Mobile as backup. I didnt buy the HTC EVO V but I bought something close to it HTC EVO 4g. I plan on flashing it to Virgin Mobile on June 23 but first I have to take care of some business. I feel like since all the big devs no offense to Gannon, G360man, and Austire has left or starting to leave and making final builds. Due to the lack of good roms to me again no offense to the devs I dont like the Motorola Triumph anymore. The LG Optimus S/V is an old phone but a they still have roms in development (CM9 with working camera). Our phone is way better than those their devs should be coming over here to the Motorola Triumph but I think the Optimus S/V are more dev friendly and not so complicated like the Motorola Triumph so thats how they got camera working. I do plan on buying the HTC EVO V because I am pretty sure development will end soon on the HTC EVO 4g due the HTC EVO 4G LTE. Since the the HTC EVO V is smiliar to the HTC EVO 3D I have a good feeling it will be getting a lot of roms and ports. Since it already has ICS on it. I have only ported two roms the Motorola Triumph (MokeeOS and MIUI GB 2.4.20) and they are kind of successful almost I think MokeeOS no wifi and MIUI GB 2.4.20 phone fcs on incoming calls trust me I tried to fix both but I have had no success. So therefore I am leaving the Motorola Triumph for the HTC EVO 4g on VM I just like it way better than the Motorola Triumph.

The Optimus V is not nearly as big of a phone as the One/P-500. That's the only reason we were able to get ICS was because of that phone. The O1 has the most amazing dev support and has just about every ICS ROM for it (And GB). They were the ones who fixed camera, we just pulled in their code. Although we do have great devs, a lot of our coding comes from the O1.

I am keeping mine for now. The HTC is not much of an upgrade in my opinion. From my understanding, the 4g is not lte compatible. That means you will only have 4g in your area if it has wimax coverage. If they have lte only in your area, you still won't have 4g.

Basically, sprint's plan is to offload some of their 3g congestion to their wimax network. Since they are also now committing themselves to lte, it is unclear what that means in terms of whether they will be expanding their wimax coverage. If they don't plan to expand wimax, you may never get 4g in your area with the HTC phone! Why pay extra for a new phone and a higher rate for that?

I plan to keep my Triumph, and even purchased a spare via eBay! I love how easy it is to root -- it's basically pre-rooted at the factory, with just a couple of symbolic links needed, and easily done via Terminal Emulator.

(Not sure why this was double-posted. I used the "Post Quick Reply" feature at the bottom of the webpage to post it once, I thought.)

Thanks to BSydy Stock & Deodexed Sharp 2.2.2 now with working send and receive MMS... along with nice camera (even panorama), hdmi, and super fast GPS with ;) working aGPS, hotspot.. now version 4 that updates from 2.1. Might be Froyo but it's a fresh approach to a stabler ROM. I think it might help some hold onto their Triumph a little longer.

I'll be keeping my Triumph for the short term. When Black Friday (or Cyber Monday) rolls around at holiday time, I'll have to see what deals Virgin Mobile is offering and decide whether to upgrade or not. Last year, VM was offering the Triumph for almost 50% off! If they offer the HTC EVO 4G for half off this year, I'll be very tempted to make the switch.

Yeah, I'm waiting for Black Friday too. Even 30% off would be a huge deal.

was planning on switching to the evo as soon as it came out but after doing some homework and weighing the benefits, its really not worth it. wimax 4g if im not mistaken is only as fast as AT&Ts 3g. ill keep my triumph maybe until black friday sale time rolls around and i can either get an Exhibit 2 for really cheap (on tmobile monthly 4g $30/month plan) or ill get either a GNexus or GS2 off ebay for $200. the Triumph wouldnt be such a downer if Virgin Mobile/Sprint had faster 3G and better support.

also, anyone heard anything of Tmob Monthly 4g getting any new phones? hoping for a Blaze 4G but i doubt it since it just came out not long ago

Neither my wife nor I have any plans to get rid of our Triumphs any time soon. Bull Shark said it very well, I think

With all the posts on this board about users and devs leaving the community, it's made me kinda depressed to think I might be the only one left with a Triumph. With a small income and a two year old, buying the Evo V, as much as I would love to, is just not a possibility right now. So I was wondering who is actually staying with the Triumph and possibly going to continue working on ROMs. I'd love to learn to dev myself but don't even know where to begin.
I'm new to all this phone thing but I thank the Motorola triumph is the easiest phone to rom.etc It's like my window's day's dual boot :)

I'm keeping my Triumph for at least the next year or two. Unlike a lot of people, I'm very happy with this phone. I had no problems stock but I flashed b_randon's kernal and FroyoCream Sandwich anyway (I like the tweaks and the ability to play with things on a rooted phone).

To me, after coming from an Intercept (from which the super devs at SDX proved you can truly polish a turd--or at least buff it to a semi-gloss), this is a great little phone. While my dad's Droid Razr is cool and super slick, I'm fine with the Triumph. I can play the games I want to play and most of all, Angry Birds plays in real time and not stop motion!

I'm good for another year on my Triumph. It probably would have been a different story though without the Sharp ROM. I hope people try that before giving up on the Triumph.

I plan on staying with my Triumph through at least next Spring. I don't see 4G in our area any time soon so that affects my decision as well.

On a side note, I have had the pleasure of using most of the big players in cell service. I found that with AT&T and Verizon, even with a strong signal, some calls would cut out. In contrast, when I used Sprint/Virgin Mobile, the call quality was fine even with one bar. Today for some reason I checked the coverage map for Virgin Mobile and found they added 3G up where I hunt. This is great news because I bring my laptop to deer camp and use my phone as a Hotspot.

As I see it, VM is a great deal (as long as your not a world traveler) and my MT is a more than adequate phone. And as stated several times in this thread, I cannot just throw $300 away on a new phone.

I just want everybody to have a safe and fun 4th of July!!!!

Wife and I were planning on keeping our Triumphs for a while but the convergence of two things changed that: my growing frustration with it--it's completely choking on Firefox being the most recent addition--and wife's co-worker wanting to switch to VM and interested in buying both of our Triumphs. It was an irresistible Dirk Gently moment.

First, let me preface what I'm about to say with we don't regret our Triumph purchase; it was our first Android phone and a good learning experience and even with owning them for only 4 months, we still saved money over our old Sprint service.

Having picked up the Evo V, I will say that these phones are totally worth it to us. Even without 4G in my area, the Evo's throughput is far greater than the Triumph's (5-6 bars vs. 0-1 bar--6 bars? It is one louder!). The Evo V is smooth and responds instantly with zero hitching or waiting. If that is important to you, it's worth it; if you are more patient, then maybe it isn't.
