Root Anyone know the best Method to Root this Phone?

Hello Everyone :),

I'm a web developer with my 1st android phone. I just picked up this LG Optimus C from Cricket last week, and I'm thrilled with it thus far (minus the bloatware). I'm excited to start publishing apps and contributing to the ever expanding Android Community But first, I want to gain access to Root and remove that bloatware ;)

I've current been up the last 14+ hours poking around trying to figure out how to Root this phone (LG-LW690)

So far, none of the tutorials that I've followed have worked. I've tried a few already, such as z4mod, rageagainstthecage, asroot2 and a few other related "LG rooted" threads, even tried doing some via the adb cmd prompt. www.fusion-gold.com seems say it will work, but... do i have to pay to get their software?

All these methods have not given me any success, perhaps I'm not doing it right...? :(

Anyways, has anyone else been able to Root this phone?
Are there any more advanced methods - or in the same breathe,
one-clicks I should be aware of?

I appreciate anyone to point me in the right direction from here.

They are rooting the optimus v. It has 2.2.1. It should be the same as yours. Check out their section on this site. It's not a one click method, though.
 
Well I have the LG Optimus V and the guide I used to root was at [How-To] Root the LG Optimus V - Android Forums

idk if it will work on the Optimus C as I do not have one, even though I like my phone Virgin Mobile kind of pisses me off so I may end up switching eventually and certainly after more mods are available for the Optimus C.

Are you able to access the device via adb? Hence doing adb shell? If not you may have to make sure your drivers are installed and also make sure you're in USB debudding mode.

I'm getting the same message as xtiv, and everything is installed correctly.
 
And you're in USB debugging? Again idk if this will work with the C but it does work with the Optimus V however it's amazing how many guides don't mention putting your phone into USB debugging mode in your applications menu.
 
This device is not root-able right now.The phone shuts down ADB when you run the rage or psneuter exploit, then you have to restart the phone to use ADB again. I've been working on this for 2 weeks, since I first got the phone. Nothing works, on the other Optimus forums, it states to DOWNGRADE from 2.2.1 before being able to root. As of right now, we have no other firmware. We do have the 2.2 source on the LG website, and I posted it in the forum, but it's hard to tell (for me) if it's 2.2 or 2.2.1.

Yes. As noted above this post, this phone is not rootable right now.
 
I've downloaded the source. Can we recompile a build that would get us through this? I wouldn't mind doing a bit a coding if I know what is it i'm looking for.
 
i have found out how to install all drivers but the usb modem #2 on LGLW690..
take battery from phone and plug in usb thru pc... then enter battery while pluggd in pc still and let install drivers til it stops... once its done turn on phone and the rest of the drivers will be installed... good lucc on rooting it now developers =) it shuld even instll fastbootdriver of phone to your pc =)
 
Hey Congrats I finally got my phone rooted !!! Then I played with the settings a bit and then I turned it off back on Hey bummer!! Now I have a phone that no longer works its, or as they say BRICKED.
Well i tryed and tryed all the different ways to fix my bricked phone for a couple of hours only getting close ,but as they say no cigar! finally I was looking around and I found out that if you hold down up volume and return key with usb plugged in then hit power button and hold this takes you too the update screen,great! I tryed the other methods again and still no luck,as a last resort I just winged it and decided to use the Lg updater, the very same as I had used to update my software when I had bought the phone Bingo My phone now works again. I hope it helps a bricked phone owner good luck.
