Anyone live in or around Houston?

Is anyone on here live in or around the Houston area that can help me root my droid? I know there are many threads on how to do it but its all confusing to me. Thanks
 
You can't make backups until you're rooted, but just running z4 won't cause any problems that you'll need to restore from.
 
z4 is so easy you have nothing to worry about. Once your rooted get the droid x bootstrapper here. Open the app and press the top button and wait then a pop up will say 'success' then to get into the custom recovery press the bottom button. Your phone will then reboot and you can make a complete backup (homescreens and everything) within this. You can also make a backup using ROM manager from the market. From there the possibilities are infi.. well not infinite but there are a lot of possibilities.
