Help Anyone return an Evo because the bottom screen is separating

He didnt say they were out of stock, he said "Unfortunately Best Buy is a third party distributor and I must ask you to wait on them to have stock, we can not replace phones from third party distributors or other channels"

Which makes sense, for the most part, but I'm pretty pissed to know that some reps are doing it, and some arent.

I also asked about the 70$ account credit for SP customers and they basically told me i was crazy.

Ya that really kinda blows for you, sorry. It seems sprint employees seem to like to do there own thing.
I got my shipping notification lastnight before I went to bed, be here Monday. Must of been the last one shipped out.

I have slight light bleed below the home button. I already had my phone relpaced once for ear speaker sound quality.

I'm not going to go back to sprint and return it again, as I had a hard enough time (anger, bad words, calling bullsh1t etc...) the first time.

I have the insurance plan, if for some reason I find it gets worse, I'll use my insurance plan or go back to sprint another time.

Nice customer service Sprint...

That seems to be a common theme with the phone being in such short supply.
Really sucks for the ones that are trying to get a replacement phone:mad:

Might hold off till something is officially announced. I contacted our Sprint Account Mgr and told him about the problem. He said we could exchange the phones. I believe my light leakage is getting worse though. "sigh"

My new one will be here on Monday. So there is no going back now:)

Just a question to people experiencing this leakage: do you notice the problem in any setting other than pitch black darkness? Mine seems minor, but may be worsening. Early adopting is for suckers.

Is this something I should be worried about if plan to keep in a hard case at all times. Right now I have it in the bodyglove case and can't tell anything because the case hides any imperfections . I plan to get an otterbox when they release the evo case, which should provide complete coverage. Anyway in short will a case prevent the separation or should I take the case off to monitor the problem.

Yes, because the adhesive is failing regardless of the case being on the Evo. As you can see there is very little of it. Probably the problem right there.

A picture is truly worth a thousand words...PROBLEM SOLVED. I think even if you get a replacement EVO, it will most likely, in time, exhibit the loose bottom screen because of the poor design/choice in the adhesive at the lower left section of the screen.

I was thinking a full hard case would hold the screen and phone body together to prevent the separation. Still no excuse for faulty designing.I'm sure in time the 3rd or 4th batch will have a minor tweak to fix the issue. I can't tell because of my case but haven't notice anything weird going on at all.

The red tint is for the LCD array, all of the LCD mfgrs have this tinge. Fexample, just look at your iphone or look at a smooth glass TV, not a a screen like a lenovo laptop has though (kind of frosty/not smooth).

Oh I am certain I will, if I do I will just return it for a refund and save my upgrade for something else Android that comes along.

I guess my EVO has it too - light leakage under all four buttons and just a tiny bit of give when I push on the bottom edge of the screen. Didn't notice either one until I took the phone out of its Innocase.

Because of the Innocase will hold the screen in place, I'm just hoping to make this an "out of sight, out of mind" kind of thing. It never leaves the case anyway.

in same exact boat.. in innocase and after taking it out i do notice a tiny bit of leakage under search button and some give on the glass..

oh well.. seems like a pretty common problem =(

I guess not common enough, on mine i have no bleeding, by any chance did you guys leave the EVO in direct sunlight? you people live in Arizona? =]

But yes people should keep an eye on this, as i will.

Definitely going to head back to my Radio Shack and exchange my phone. I can very visibly push the bottom of my screen in and it'll move quite a bit. It definitely bothers me. I hope this isn't as widespread as some people are saying. T_T

This makes me really weary of buying an evo... how could htc botch this so badly????

Are there no good phone mftrs left? =(

Tapatalk. Samsung Moment. Yep.

You said it, there are no good ones left all all, maybe Nokia. But HTC did Indeed drop the ball on this, no surprise, incredible has it's build quality issues also. Well if I get the run around from best buy today again, I may just return it altogether. What I can't get is this?

Hero: problems
Nexus one: problems
Incredible: problems
EVO: problems

However the Desire, and Legend don't really have the wide spread issues, why is that? Why do all the USA version phones have so many issues, and the European flavors don't?

Not cool HTC..

BB has me on the list for a replacement phone when they get some stock in (how long? Who knows...). I'm number 2 behind a guy who's screen died.

When I was at the store last night, explaining the issue to the reps, I took a look at the demo phone they had on the display. I'm sure it's been abused by the shear number of people who have fondled it and, it's screen was perfect.
