Hi, so i am super new to htc and all the htc stuff, but i got Root, And i got Recover and i am running Harmonia_3.17 rom, (it looked easy to me n it did not need S off) but now i want to run The 10.1 Roms. So i need S off, Now i have tryed to do it my self but failed. I am on Windows Vista, n there is no guide for Vista on how to get up n running, So If anyone can help me out here on getting S-Off,?

First, are you on the evo 3d sprint or the virgin mobile evo v? Have you taken any OTA? (there are two, one in November 2012 and one in March 2013)

Assuming you're on the evo v since you posted in this forum, you would first have to go back to stock by flashing the Virgin Mobile RUU.

Give us more info about your phone and we will be better in helping you achieve S-off.

OTA means over the air. They're updates pushed to our phones. If you have taken the Nov, your radio baseband version would be 1.09.00.0706 and software version number is 1.14.652. If you have taken the March one, it's 1.09.00.0108 and software number is 2.95.652.

Seems like your phone hasn't been tempered much. You haven't taken any OTA yet, which is good! Don't take any OTA as this point.

Verify that your bootloader is unlock. Turn off phone, then turn it on holding both vol down+power at the same time. It should boot into bootloader and it will tell you if your bootloader is lock or unlock

That's great. YOu're in good shape. Now some people have reported that they could achieve S-off being on a stock based rom such as Harmonia.

But to be safe, you need to be back on the stock rom that came with the phone.

To do that, you would need to download and flash the Virgin Mobile RUU in bootloader. I can't provide a link but if you look around in here you will find it.

Getting S-off used to be more simple until the Unlimited I.O. team cut support for windows. Now you would have to be on Linux or boot Linux on Windows using a LIVECD. It's a pain but it is what it is.

The older version could be done on windows.

The version has not changed. The support for Windows on unlimited.io has just been removed.

Thats the guide i was using n i got lost but i am about to try it 1 more time, but i want to know, does that guide work on windows vista ?
Where were you stuck? You can try it on Vista. If you get adb and fastboot to work, the guide will work.

Okay, so that version they have for download on their website to be run on Linux is the same as the version that was for Windows?
No, the Windows and Linux versions are different. I think what remanifest meant was that the last version for Windows (v0.11) should still work even though it's not available on the unlimited.io website or supported by their staff.

No, I meant that the version numbers are the same, and that they're the same version of the program. The only difference is the build and the libraries used.

You mean between the Linux and Windows versions?

I don't think the source code could be the same for those two versions since the API's are different between the two operating systems, even for basic things like opening and updating files. And the unlimited.io staff has already stated that they don't need to interface with drivers for the Linux version.

The unlimited.io developers have never provided changelogs for their updates so it's hard to tell if the functions of the Windows and Linux versions are the same or not, but the currently available Linux version can definitely not be used on Windows.

Perhaps I'm still confused about what you meant?
