Root Anyone (S-Off Issues)

Alright guys well i got s- OFF and did all the other good stuff it said to do on that guide, Yes it works with Vista, and Yes i got Harmonia ROM to work. Thank You to all the guys who helped me :). And Thanks remanifest for that guide u made.

You mean between the Linux and Windows versions?

I don't think the source code could be the same for those two versions since the API's are different between the two operating systems, even for basic things like opening and updating files. And the unlimited.io staff has already stated that they don't need to interface with drivers for the Linux version.

The unlimited.io developers have never provided changelogs for their updates so it's hard to tell if the functions of the Windows and Linux versions are the same or not, but the currently available Linux version can definitely not be used on Windows.

Perhaps I'm still confused about what you meant?

No, I didn't mean that it was cross-platform or anything like that. What I was saying is simply that the versioning between both builds is the same, and that their function is the same.

The idea of not providing changelogs doesn't make sense to me, but their whole operation is very much built on keeping their lips sealed. I guess they're trying to not top their hand, but I'm sure if HTC or anyone else was really worried about it they could perform a decompilation and find out (generally) how it functions.

Decompilation on both binaries returns similar results, implying that the functions are similar across builds (makes sense).

The end result and exploit used are the same but it's hard to tell how similar the Windows and Linux implementations are without access to the source code and unlimited.io isn't going to provide that.

It doesn't matter at this point since the Windows version isn't going to be updated even the if the Linux version is, but users have been getting S-OFF with JBear on the Evo 3D starting with v0.3 and every version after that. The changes in later versions were most likely to streamline and make the process more reliable. If unlimited.io were to come out with a Linux version that supports the VM 1.58 hboot users are going to have to decide between trying an unsupported Windows version or going with Linux to be able to fall back on unlimited.io support.

Awesome! Congrats. :) What Hboot do you have? You need to downgrade it to at least 1.50 to use the 10.1 ROMs. I recommend the 1.50.50 jbear hboot. :)
