If you are flying I would imagine they would ask you to turn your phone off? The battery on the GS3 lasts for over a day with typical usage.
He might want to have a fresh battery when he gets off the plane.

Just giving an update...
I received the EZOPower dock with spare battery charging slot today. It's pretty solid. Came with 2 batteries and 2 USB cords. There is rubber on the bottom to keep the dock stable. I haven't bought a case yet, but when you take the case plate/insert off, there seems to be plenty of room for a case. I'm sure the RND and KIDIGI models are exactly the same. Looks like the price jumped up though.

I went and got the EZO just as you did, minus the spare batteries. Removing the insert allows me to fit the phone in with a Diztronic TPU case no problem. I can't really comment on how fast it charges since I only charge overnight while I'm sleeping. I'm also still using the wall charger and cord that came with the phone. The dock is pretty solid and gets the job done, but I still wish there was a decent looking landscape dock that can put the phone's home screen in landscape mode like when you attach the MHL adapter to it. Just curious. Do those spares have NFC?
