Hi, I moved from iPhone to note 3 and I don't seem to be getting sms from iPhone friends. Lots out there on imessage issues. I deregistered my iPhone. Turned off mms settings on iphone. Changed my apple password. But still no luck. Meantime late here and friends in bed lol. Any suggestions? Thanks

Did you turn imessage off? Go to the settings in the iPhone and turn off imessage and then disconnect from the wifi on the iPhone. It worked for me.

I switched from the iPhone as well. I spent 2-3 hours working on this the other day. You have done everything you can. Your friends will need to go into settings - messages - enable "send as SMS" so they can text you (in individual conversations).

The main problem is with group messages. If your friend tries to message you and another iPhone user their phone is still going to think you are using an iPhone and you will note receive the message. This is unavoidable. I spoke with advanced technical support at Apple and the solution will resolve itself after the apple servers synch the iMessage phone number database (happens every 45 days).

Complete BS in my opinion and just another reason I'm glad to be free from Apple.

Found this over on the Apple support discussion forum:

1. Go to Settings -> Messages and turn on iMessage if its off.
2. Go to Send/Receive options
3. Tap on your icloud/itunes account email at the top of the page.
4. Tap on "Sign Out"
5. Go back to Message settings and turn off iMessage.
6. Restart your phone.
7. Have someone with an iphone send you a message. It should be working now.

Wifey couldn't text me until I turned on SMS *and* restarted her phone. Also you need to turn off your old iPhone if it's got internet access via wifi, because you'll still get the iMessage even with a deactivated SIM.

You must still be connected somewhere with iMessage. This is just bad settings on the part of Apple and has nothing to do with Samsung. Before logging out of iMessage you should have unchecked your phone number as well.

I switched from an Iphone 5 to the N3 and all of a sudden stopped receiving any text from any iphone user from the past. So I took the following steps to try and fix the situation: I had unregistered my Iphone 5 on Apple's website and the text stopped going to the Iphone. However, then it started going to my Ipad. I unregistered the Ipad, so it stopped going there, however, when someone would send me a message from an Iphone, it would come up on their screen undelieverable. To fix the issue, I had to have them turn off imessage and turn on MMS. For me, I had to do both, unregister the devices and have the senders turn off imessage and turn on MMS.

I forgot to add, for me, I did not have to do anything with icloud (although I store everything there on my Ipad) to get iphone messaging to work on my N3.

Well, after you finish the adjustment with your IPhone , go in your Android phone to Google Play Store and download Textra SMS app; GO SMS app, any of the other SMS app you like. My wife, my boss, my friends, everyone use Iphones and no problem with texting messages with me and my Android LG G2.

Hancent texting app has always been my favorite, and yes, iDrone people can text and receive from and to me just fine. They are even happy they can MMS back and forth, although the apple way is again "special" to their proprietary system so it's not as nice and easy as just a simple MMS - click on it and see the damn pic.

I had the same problem with iMessage. I have an iPad as well so I needed to turn iMessage off on all devices before switching phones, then I sent a regular SMS from my iPhone so that the iMessage server realized I had it turned off. I then took the SIM card out of my iPhone and put it in the Note 3 no problems sending or receiving SMS. I didnt have to unregister anything either.

That all makes sense. The reason I had to unregister my apple devices was because I was using a different sim card in my N3. I had sold my iphone 5 and was using a iphone 3gs until my N3 arrived. Therefore, the SIM card in the iphone 3gs would not fit in the N3. Otherwise, yes, I would not see a need to unregister the device if you are using the same SIM card.

Jim131 is correct. I just came over from an iPhone 5 and had the same problem. Turning off iMessage didn't solve my problem but once you go to iTunes and unregister your iPhone you will be set. Your contacts with iPhones will not have to do anything to their phones.

Loving my GN3. I'm sure I will be on here asking noobie questions also.
Great Forum!

On the iToy, have your Crapple friends TURN ON Send as SMS under iMessage settings. This alone SOLVES this stupid problem. OK to leave iMessage on.
