Personally people like ipad and I dont really care for it....I wouldnt disrespect Android by letting OS X connect with it, might make little half breed droids mixed with Apples, yuck!!

Anyone tethering iPad?

The iPad is nice due to all the big name support and apps. Its going to be a long time IMO before anything Android can match this. Not the iPad hardware wise, the big name support and apps.
I have seen some Android tablets but they cant really do anything more than my EVO.

I want to watch Netflix and unfortunately cannot do it in my EVO.
I have tried changing wireless frequency channels from 1-14 but still will give me the same error when I try to connect to the Internet.
Can someone please shred some light and assist me with this issue? I will really appreciate it.

I agree. I think the hardware and software can be on the level, if not top, the iPad. But the support that they get for their apps is yet to be matched. For that reason, I too don't see a tab that can in reality do more than my Evo.

I have a jailbroken Ipad wifi and a Evo (unrooted) version 3.7xxx
Can i do the following??
Use PDANET from Ipad to wifi teether with EVO (unrooted)?
if yes, is this through bluetooth or wifi ? or i must use some sort of cable plug-in from phone to ipad (not sure if they even have that).

Last night, i tried to paired the bluetooth of the jailbroken wifi Ipad and the unrooted Evo, and did not have much success.
The status shows that my phone was able to paired with the ipad, but was not connected. "paired by not connected"
and on the ipad, it discover the phone, but never established a connection.
anyone else having the same problem?

Either the evo or the iPad don't support being paired by Bluetooth would be my guess.
I'm on a rooted evo running mikfroyo 4.3 and tether to my iPad all the time using the hotspot hack on the rom. Saves me $30 a month.
when you making reference to mikfroyo 4.3, thats the firmware or rom (or are they the same)?? i have yet to root my phone, so i am trying to exhaust all possible way to teether it to ipad ...

i have heard... the LG Optimus S phone.. on sprint has an opening. There is an app.. that you can get.. on the market .. that only works this phone. it opens up the hotspot app.. and works for free.
maybe the other versions of this phone on other carriers can do the same.

My Evo is updated to the latest OS, so is there a root program out there so I can tether it to my iPad and not have to pay the $30 Sprint Hotspot fee? I'm not a computer genius - my friend was going to root the Evo for me - but didn't know how to do it with the latest OS - Android version 2.2
Any ideas, friends?

Hello, rooted my phone today with Gingerbread. I went to install the tethering apps Barnacle or WiFi Tethering and both apps give an error message " The requested item could not be found."
I am wondering if there is still something I need to do within my phone's system or are these apps just no longer available? My carrier is Sprint, could they be blocking somehow?
I am new to all of this. I received an IPad 2 wireless only model for Christmas and would like to tether it. I have not opened it, so if needed I can return it and get the 3G model, but I really don't want to have to pay the monthly service fees.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am not opposed to flashing a new ROM if necessary, as long as someone or a site can baby step me through that process.

I have, on 2 1pads at the same time. I always have phone plugged in due to drain on battery. Speed is decent, but gets slow if streaming video or downloading large files. I even use the phone to connect my laptop & wireless printer in my car. I can't live without that option.

Thread is a little stale, but I have some info that might help anyone having problems...
While I've not had to do it with my EVO (root'd and WiFi Tether - both still working as of June 12th) On some of my other phones, I had to Jailbreak my iPads (V1 64gb 3G, V2 32gb WiFi) and install iBluVer, which initiates a standard Bluetooth DUN session (on sprint you'll need to pay for PAM or disable the tethered phone's NAI, most phones the latter is just entering a password and choosing "dissable NAI")
I would like to note though, that I've have very mixed success with 4G tethering, sometimes it works, sometimes I get *painfully* slow speeds (like 200kbps), and sometimes it does not work at all. (But this is in a nearby city that sprint doesn't even list on their website as covered, so it may just be a "testing" tower or something)
Also, I'm not sure if this works because I never tried it, but I've read that the EVO can tether over USB without root, for a one-time fee of $20 or $30 you can buy a hardware device called a "Cradlepoint" which dials up the internet on your phone over USB and creates a wifi hotspot itself ($20 version requires AC power, $30 version includes rechargeable battery)
Lastly, I cant remember if it was said on here or elsewhere, but the general consensus is that Sprint is only terminating service for 100gb or more per month, so if you stay under that (I've done upto ~30gb a few months without issue) you should be safe. If your a heavy user keep an eye on sprint.com to check your data usage.
