Root anyone try 2.1a or 1a chargers?

i tried a 2.1amp charger, and i just bought 2 of these Amazon.com: High Output Dual USB Port Car Charger for Ipad, Samsung Galaxy, Iphone, Blackberry, Droid, Gps, and Other Tablets, Smart Phones and High Powered Devices: Computers & Accessories

BUT!!!!!! i warn you, i purchase a 2.1a charger from a truck stop (im a trucker) for $30, and now my phone is fryed.... but for some reason, i got it to work somehow plugged into a computer, then all of a sudden, it worked with the wall charger??!?!? but usb aftermarket devices dont charge this thing.

i was very scared i broke my device and went to verizon, i got a new one overnight delivery, but im not sure what is going on now?

Im holding the phone right this seccond, and it is charging.. more than i could get it to do a while ago... but now i have another phone in the mail on its way here... im just going to pull my info off and factory reset this one..

i have to leave soon and i need to post another thread...

I've found best results with HTC 1.0 mAH charger. Please note the phone also limits charge speed.
I've also found specific charging cables are helpful too.
 
You most likely over heated the protection circuit due to a faulty charger. It's also possible that you have some internal issues now (possible solder cracked). Do a nandroid if you can and then restore it to the new phone once you get it.
 
I think what happened... it was reporting a false battery level and it was below 0 percent, And the charger was the only thing keeping it alive and when it couldn't supply enough power The charge circuit overload it in shut off completely ...when I plugged it into the computer somehow the downstream and upstream reactivated the charge circuit... ????

I don't think there was internal damage because normally when a random reboot happens it will shut down and then you will see the Lg logo flash on the screen... Somehow it powered down and shut the charge circuit off entirely..

btw, Those 2.1 car chargers work great... I think the 1 amp circuit works better than the 2.1, Because I actually just now witnessed the percentage going up while the screen is on in the device is being used so it can power the device and charge the battery at the same time.. I don't think the 2.1 worked as well because I witnessed it draining the battery as I was using it and not charge but the 1 amp seems way better, charge + power device!
 
iGo works great! I recommend it for 3rd party charging hardware.

The only downside is that the USB cables don't do data transfer, which may be a plus for some.
 
However it is the lack of data transfer - making them charge only cables that makes charging fast. Even off a usb port a charge only cable charges as AC not USB.
If anyone knows long charge only cables like 10 ft. please post here. Thanks.

One more thing, If any of you guys have a fastboot/bootloader cable for a motorola device, DO NOT use it as a regular cable for any of your devices. I only use it for my kindle fire (detects if there is a voltage coming from the ID pin and if there is it puts it into fastboot, great for unbricking, even better way is to pull the cover off and as the usb cable is plugged in and you're in linux, short a couple test points and get into the omap emergency usb mode, which allows flashing a uboot...)Anyway I'm going off on a tangent. The 'factory cable' as they're called for Moto devices has power going to both Pin 1 and to the ID pin (5) of the micro usb cable. It can overload the device if it doesn't know how to be used.

Chances are you won't have one lying around like I do, but in case you do, don't try it.
