Anyone using their Evo to tether to pc via USB?

Tried this on my Evo just now and it works, I get no error 67.

Turn off laptop's wifi. Connect Evo to laptop. On Evo's popup choose Internet Sharing. Laptop connects to the internet.

I tried it and no errors works fine for me too. Weird others are getting the error. I dont know if this matters but I got the $99 plan with Sprint.

When it is and isnt working what networks are you guys on? I thought it was disabled on 3g but enabled on 4g. Mine works on 4g.

i dont have 4G in my area so i guess im running it on 3G........so i dont think you need 4G to be able to tether via USB.........

Error 67 for me too. I think the phones with tethering is the ones that have been rooted.

Bun on a 4G signal, I was able to share my phones internet connection with my laptop using the wifi hotspot a couple of days ago.

go to settings, applications, development, enable usb debugging. Do not enable internet sharing. pick the charge only option and it should work

Doesn't work for me. Which plan are you on? I'm thinking it might have something to do with what mtrajano00 says below...it varies with the plan? I have the 450 Everything Data.

Doesn't work for me. Not in 4G area, toggled it on and tried, still 67.

I asked that already - the people who were able to tether did so without being rooted.

No go :(

That's really weird, it's always just worked for me. I'm not on a plan right now. My Google I/O's free 30 days isn't over for another few days.

for those who cant connect.....do you have HTC sync installed?..........i did that CDMA/GSM trick so i dont know if these 2 factors helped?........just trying to trouble shoot why some can and some cant.......

kkwus74, It might be the htc sync cause I have that installed also! And mine works just as you described!

Tried it all, USB debugging, HTC Sync, CDMA/GSM trick, 4G on, etc but I still get Error 67.

Ashunte, which plan are you on?

Teathering works like a champ... I've done it twice now on two seperate occations on two seperate computers... here are my directions.. hope it can help you out.

You need to DL the free version of PDANet on your EVO.

On your computer: First Dl this: http://www.htc.com/us/support/evo-sprint/downloads/

Then DL the appropriate version of this:
http://junefabrics.com/android/

make sure your computer downloads the drivers for the EVO, did it automatically for me after I installed HTC Sync.

connect your phone via USB and select just charge.

you may need to go Settings--> Applications--> Development... and set "debugging" as appropriate (cant remember if its on or off)

open PDANet on your phone.

im no expert and i had no trouble teathering via this route. It works really nicely!

and for the person asking about the plan... i use the Everything Data 450 for 80$
