Anyone wanna help???

Ok, so I have a HTC Hero for Sprint running on Android 2.1 and as we all know it sucks. LOL. I would like some help on rooting it, and getting android 2.2 (froyo). I also have a couple of questions. I read that flash will not work on the rooted 2.2. What does this exactly mean, and what will I not be able to do with it? Will I still be able to get market updates for the apps that I download from it? Will I still be able to even use the Android Market? After these are answered I would also like some help with actually rooting and getting froyo on my htc hero. I tried to do it myself following other steps, but when trying to download some of the files I needed they kept telling me that it could not be read or that I needed other files to view them. Any help would be nice and greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I just rooted a few weeks ago and I'm loving it. Its like having a brand new phone. The market and everything works better than ever. I used "z4root" from the market to root my phone and flashed the latest Cyanogen rom. It was very simple, I did it all right on my phone and I think it took about 20 minutes all together. Just go to HERE for full instructions.

And thats also with android 2.2? And what about the not having flash on my phone? Was that just something that was wrong? I'll try the z4root though. Thanks.

Sorry for all the back to back questions, but I just saw a video on rooting with the z4root app, and when they went to load a custom rom, they used the track ball to scroll down. For some reason my trackball will not scroll down, will this hinder me from continuing with the process. I know with some things it will let yoiu scroll up and you will start at the bottom and continue going up until you can get to the one you want, can I do this?

Yes, Flash does work on mine. When you flash a new rom, it wipes everything out and starts fresh. So you can wave buh-bye to sprint nascar, nfl, navigation, tv, etc... As far as the trackball goes, im not sure. I have never had any issues with my balls. lol if you are going to go with the Cyanogen rom, just be sure to follow the directions and everything should be fine.

You need to be posting in the all root things section, you will get the proper help there, and once rooted, which takes less than 5 minutes, you can flash a Non Sense Rom, or you can also flash a Sense Rom that has all the bloatware already deleted.

Will this allow me to delete useless apps, like sprint nascar, or nfl etc?

You will need the trackball to maneuver to the command prompts maybe not for using the Z4root, but once you want to flash and move around in recovery the trackball is essential. This is where you want to open a thread and one of us will walk you through the process
