Well, I suppose my first post ought to be a constructive one, before I delve into the "I'm so far out of my depth it's ridiculous" posts. Oh, and the "O_O halp?" posts
Anyhow I grabbed the Evo shift as my first android phone, and my experience has been very pleasant.
I've had two issues: One-I keep inadvertently hitting the volume rocker when holding the phone. This got really annoying, but it's easily solvable with a phone case. I grabbed the otterbox case available for it, and I'd HIGHLY recommend it. I've dropped the phone a lot, with nary a scratch on it. I've even had a bad experience with a cat deciding it wanted to eat my phone(Don't ask. Just don't.) and the only mark was a slight tooth indentation on the top part of the case.
The case isn't perfect, it has a bit too much rubber at the top(near the headphone jack), so it slides a bit; and the portion of rubber covering the charging port seems like it might eventually break off. But still, a great investment at about $30.
The second issue is the infamous memory leak in the newest version of Sense. In fact, I just joined in order to talk about that :x
No tips or tricks for that one, yet.
The good: The battery life is the most amazing I've ever had on a phone. With decent settings: (20% screen brightness, a picture wallpaper, etc.) I get about 28 hours on standby. With moderate usage: anywhere from 4-8, depending on coverage. I can run the battery out in a couple hours if I'm surfing the web crazily on network, but that's just because coverage isn't the best here.[If you haven't had Sprint before, I'd say go look at their coverage maps.]
Android=love. I replaced my Palm Pre with this, and I will admit, I miss webOS. The lack of multitasking ability frustrated me at first. But I downloaded an app called handcent sms, which allows me to reply to texts while doing other things(a must). The amount of apps is ASTOUNDING compared to what I'm used to. webOS had thousands of apps. This thing has hundreds of thousands. It's actually pretty overwhelming.
