Anyone who preordered a Note III thinking iPhone 5S instead?

10/12??? What did they do, go cheap and order the shipment by parcel post? The other carriers are getting theirs about a week earlier :(

Verizon, take my money and give me my Note 3!!!

Look on the bright side, Chief... this release shouldn't be anything like what we went through with the nexus. THAT was borderline insanity.

I'm hoping this means that those who ordered early will still get it on the 10th. I guess I should log onto big red's site now.

I was all set on getting a Note 3, until I stopped and checked out the LG G2. The screen sold it for me and the extremely fast UI helped. This phone is awesome. I'm sure the Note 3 will be awesome as well, but as much as I wanted it I remember when I had the Note 2 what a struggle for me it was always pulling it in that little red wagon :) but seriously I did always worry about cracking the large screen when it was in my pocket when I bent over.

I've had every iPhone since the original. Been using Apple computers since 1991. That said, I just migrated from an iPhone 5 to a Galaxy S4. The upcoming 5S is too minor of an upgrade, and it retains that narrow odd 4" display. Apple continues to cling to a tiny display and form factor.

The experience I've had with my S4 has been more fun and exciting than I ever would have imagined. I did lots of research before choosing, yet nothing prepared me for this level of enjoyment, functionality, and expanded capabilities.

But now I have a new problem...

Keep this S4, or sell it and buy a Note 3 ?

The larger display and overall phone size is extremely attractive. I spend a lot of time on the net for work, and the mobile pages don't cut it. Having even more display space for the desktop web sites would be ideal.

I'm open to comments and ideas from all. Thanks :)

Zen, sounds like you've already sold yourself! :p

The Galaxy S4 is a capable phone; but I watched the S4 launch and didn't see a whole lot in it for work-related activities. The Note 3, on the other hand, is virtually made for it with enterprise mail and Knox security.

So if you need it for both work and play, the Note 3 would serve you better IMO :)

I can also tell you that for quite some time I used my tablet for taking anecdotal records at work every day. It's so much nicer and easier to do so on my note 2 now. It has made it so I cannot imagine ever buying a cell phone without an S pen.

Zendroid,

You and I have similar history. Also was with the iPhone from day one right up until #5.

When iPhone 5 was announced, many Apple fans became pissed off at the fact that rumors about a larger phone had been debunked. Personally, I had enough of a tiny 4" phone with the same boring operating system that prohibited any sort of customization unless the phone was jailbroken.

I bought a Galaxy SIII. Was very happy with it, but a month later, I became aware of the soon-to-be-released Note 2. I wanted something larger and the S-PEN seemed very intriguing to me.

So, for the last year I have been a Note 2 user who is about to upgrade to the Note 3.

Are there times I miss the iPhone? Absolutely! However, it's not the phone I miss but iOS. Android is a fine operating system, but it doesn't play particularly well with other Apple products. However, that inconvenience is made up by the fact that there are dozens of things one can do on an Android customization wise that you cannot on iOS.

And best of all? No oily fingerprints on my phone. If you get in the habit of using the S-PEN for everything, you will never touch your phone's screen. I love the fact that my Note's screen is always perfectly clean.

If you love the Android experience now, I believe you will love it even more on the Note 3.

I truly appreciate the terrific feedback and sage advice from the three of you. Each of these three posts are particularly well suited to my situation & you've given me just the additional feedback I needed to make the decision that indeed the Note 3 is for me.

I work / live in a cross platform environment with Windows 7 at work & iOS / OS X for all else. As mentioned while Android is not a seamless interface with the Apple ecosystem, I choose to view that as an advantage since I love new tech challenges and devising work arounds.Furthermore Android having a readily accessible file system and a very vibrant community of users that are true tech enthusiasts like I am, is a huge plus.

I'll be pre-ordering a Note 3 later today, without a second thought thanks to your input.

Cheers to All :)

Zen,

I think you are making a sound choice here.

With so many compelling options before us when it comes to investing our hard-earned money in a new phone, it is often very difficult to make a choice without feeling some sort of buyer's remorse in the end.

There is never the perfect choice when it comes to picking a phone, but based on the feedback you received here, it has become obvious that based on experiences with the Note 2, its successor is going to be that much better.

I must say, the one small concern i have is the fact that my S4 operates flawlessly, in turn I hope I have the same good luck getting a bug free Note 3. I don't expect perfection as I'm an experienced realist. I'm simply hoping that there's no bugs or annoyances of major consequence.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I'm looking forward to this change with eager anticipation.

I think you will be okay.

I believe you have a 2 week window to spend with the phone in which you can return it. Furthermore, Samsung stands behind its phones should you get a defective one.

Everything else should stay the same. I think the two major things you are looking at with this upgrade is the substantially larger screen size (over the S4) and added memory for better performance. Not certain, but doesn't the S4 and Note 3 share the same SnapDragon processor?

I've read so much I may be wrong but I think the N3 has Snapdragon 800 vs 600. As you mentioned the 3 GB in the N3 is certainly welcome. Good point about the return period it's something I didn't think about as I rarely return any new device :)

I have a lot of money tied up in Apples ecosystem so initially going to Android kept making me feel like I made a huge mistake.....more like buyers remorse. So what did I do....carry iOS & Android.
After a while, this got old.

As Android phones got bigger--4.3" 4.7" 5.0".....you get where I'm going, I couldn't see myself ever going back to a screen so tiny I needed a magnifying glass just to see what's on it.
And not just screen size, but software. Many people feel some software aspects of a phone are "gimmicky" but what's gimmicky to one is useful to another. I LOVE what Samsung did with the whole Note series--they made it useful!

So NO....(IMO) an iPhone is an iPod that makes phone calls and I still have a fully functional 80GB 5th gen iPod. :D

Yea thinking about the iPhone 5 would of been a terrible decision to get that device over the note 3. Not going to happen. 😜

I was once offended by this picture, but now I get it. It had a caption of:

This is how iPhone users view the next iPhone

I love it!!
