Anyone with every intention of keeping the Rezound still planning on checking out the GNex?

Now that we know that the GNex will drop this Friday, will anyone who plans on keeping their Rezound still going to go check out the GNex?

I, for one, love my phone. It's been great since day one and it's made me forget just about everything to do with the GNex. I just about because as certain as I currently feel that the Rezound will be my phone until my next available upgrade, I can't say for sure until I see the competition.

I'll say this though, that phone will have to floor me -- and I mean knock me the f out -- for me to even consider switching. Can it happened? Sure. It already has one big plus for me in it's rootable from day one. This may not be a big deal for some, but it is for me. I still have hope that the Rezound will get root, but until it does, the GNex has the clear advantage here.

But that's not enough. Two key things would also absolutely have to be case: 1. the super amoled screen would have to blow me away, like to Mars, and 2. the overall size of the phone would have to feel far smaller than the actual dimensions suggests and from what I've seen in all the early pictures and vids.

That's also assuming that everything else about the phone is fine and acceptable like the camera, overall build quality and call quality.

I left out ICS and NFC on purpose. ICS is a nonfactor as we'll get it in due time. And I'm not sold on NFC. To me NFC would only be a major benefit if it actually replaced your physical wallet. But nothing that requires a battery ever will. Could you image trying to pay for something only to realize that your phone is dead or malfunctioning? Credit cards with blink payment will still rule for years to come.

The GNex has been so hyped up that I think any androidphile should at least go see whether that hype is justified. I know I will. But my lusting over the device stopped the day I bought the Rezound. And I doubt I'll see anything to change this opinion.

Now i am in fact taking my RZ back tomorrow regardless of this. To be honest with you though i can truly say the RZ is a great device. There should be no regret in keeping this device as your cell. There are several factors that have made me decide to return my RZ however that is diff for everyone so i won't go into them.

Aww man, that sucks. But I'm sure your reasons for returning the rezound are good ones as you generally seemed very satisfied with the device from most of your other posts. Don't be a stranger.

Not checking out the Nexus. No mass storage was the straw the broke the camel's back for me. I prefer not to have everything in the cloud. A few other factors played in my decision to keep the ReZound.

i won't be a stranger. I signed up to help in the ReZound forum and i will continue to do so just as i help in other device forums even though i don't have that device.

well....long story short. about 3 days ago i really started getting the itch of wanting/needing the latest and greatest software that Google offers. The only sure fire chance of that is with the G Nex. The Rezound gave me enough of a break from the DX to hold me over till the G Nex launches even if its weeks from now.

Now with that said. I still have to return my RZ if for some reason they give me the run around then i guess i'll be forced to keep it. My device does have a very VERY small scratch in the bezel that is really hard to see if I don't point it out. So hopefully they don't make a big deal out of that. Everything else is fine and i never even took the beats out of the box.

and yes i am truly happy with the RZ i really have no complaints at all with that phone. The screen is amazing and the camera takes insanely good pics imo.

are you referring to the RazR? Because you can swap batteries on the G Nex.

I got my phones mixed up. Lol. The rezound has everything I want and need. Coming from and incredible which is still a nice phone this thing rocks. As stated earlier the whole cloud thing bothers me as well. I'm sure the phone will rock but a few small things make a big difference.

Re: GNex
I hope they have a working live unit and not a block of plastic when i see it! :)
(Won't go out of the way just to see it - will see it when i casually see it :))

I will at least check it out. I want to see how it looks and feels. Most likely will not switch, as I like the option of having a backup battery for those longer days out and about. Removable storage means nothing to me, I never removed my droid's card except to switch to another phone for warranty repair (and more recently for my upgrade). Don't plan on starting now. I do like the thought up jumping to 32GB when the prices get good on those cards though.

Bottom line, I'm looking forward to checking out the Gnex, but feel no pressure whatsoever for it to be "the phone I've been waiting for." I think the RZ is filling that role nicely. :D

I'll go look at it. Love them gadgets. However, for the same reason I didn't get the RAZR I seriously doubt I could ever exchange my RZ for the GNex. 2.7" is too wide. It just feels uncomfortable. Although the RZ is thicker, having a narrower phone is more important to me. The thickness of the RZ isn't even all that bad. It just seems that way compared to the "thinnest" smart phone ever.

I jumped from the Thunderbolt to the Rezound because the Thunderbolt's screen would short out from time to time. When I jumped on the Thunderbolt I did it because I wanted 4G. Going from the Rezound to the Nexus isn't really a big step for me. If the Nexus was introducing 5G or some other insane technology then I'd consider it. As it stands now, the Nexus will have ICS, and a picture with similar resolution if the color dialed up a little bit more. I am a tech nerd, but I realized a long time ago that if I keep trying to buy the latest gadget when it came out, I would send myself to the poor house while making someone else rich. If it's not a big step up from what I currently have, I see no reason to jump aboard the latest and greatest, even if I can still technically exchange the phone via Verizon's return policy. Which those that have over 14 days of activity on their accounts, it'll be interesting to see if Verizon will let you exchange the phone under their Holiday return policy. I'm expecting a few dozen "Verizon won't let me return my Rezound after 3 weeks" posts in here once the Nexus comes out.

I'm sure you will see some of those comments. There have already been some. Its been 50/50 really. Either way it doesn't say anything on the receipt about activation coming into play. If someone tries to return it they should stand firm by what the receipt says.

It's definitely a shame that it's not so cut and dry, granted I think Verizon made the wording a little ambiguous because they figured they'd ensnare some people that wouldn't otherwise have bought a phone. Return policies are always tricky for a retailer. On the one hand you want to give your shopper confidence in your products and services, but at the same time you want to keep those attention deficit types that get distracted by anything new and shiny that's not currently in their hands from running up your costs. I'm content with what I have now as long as it doesn't start to flake out before the 1 year warranty expires like the Thunderbolt I had.

FWIW i just confirmed with a VZW CSR via telephone the RETURN POLICY GOES BY PURCHASE DATE NOT ACTIVATION DATE. I had them notate my acct in case i run into static tomorrow. I would advise anyone else to do the same.

For sure I'll check it out. Though I'm not convinced it'll be better than the Rezound anymore. I already chose the Rezound over the Razr. Was no contest! I'm most curious to see how thick the Gnex is in the hand and if it's the 32gb version. If it's only 16gb (It seems to change every week) definitely a non-starter for me. It'll be the final nail in the coffin before I really start digging into the phone.

I'll check it out just because I'm curious to know what ICS holds. I'm reasonably happy with the RZ, though, and I expect it to only get better as they update things, like, say, MAKING BEATS WORK ACROSS THE BOARD! Grr. Aaanyway, I really like the fundamentals of the RZ, from a beautiful screen I can still see in full daylight to zippy performance, to Sense's value-adds.

No flip-flopping here!

P.S.: I'm actually concerned that ICS may be a step backwards relative to the RZ's Sense interface... We shall see.

Of course I'll check out Nexus, I'm dying to play with ICS after reading about it for so long! But no chance I'll swap my Rez for it. Verrrrrry happy owner here, and switching to Nexus wouldn't offer any hardware improvement IMO. :)

Well... I think they're only claiming ICS sometime in the first half of 2012, and HTC has a crummy reputation for timely OS updates. An unrooted Rez might have to wait for 3Q (or later?) for ICS.

Nexus lacks USB mass-storage, but it does have MTP, which is directly supported by Windows and can be used w/Mac and Linux with the installation of drivers/apps.
