Root Anyway to root/flash a ROM without needed a card reader??

My card reader or the slot for the card reader in my PC is not working, thus, I have no way to follow through with rooting my Nook. Is there ANY way to root this Nook w/o having to use a card reader? Meaning is there anyway I can just link up my Nook w/ a USB and flash the files to it, reboot and complete root/flashing ROM that way?

Welcome to this section, I see you already introduced yourself by asking this question in 3 different topics, please dont do that.

Everything I can search/read doesnt have an option for that, my Hero I had to root through adb manually and didnt need a card, but to flash any sort of ROMs and Kernels, you will need one anyway. So even if you do manage to get root, and apps, you wont be able to do much after that.

Long story short, this may be possible, but it will FOR SURE be a lot of unneeded headache now and down the road, save yourself the trouble and get a cheap USB card reader.

First things first...are you trying to ROOT, or are you trying to flash a ROM. These are 2 different processes, and I personally get really annoyed by people who talk about them interchangebly (not to mention that if don't tell what you're trying to do, how are we supposed to help you do it?).

Short answer to your question...no. To used Autonooter, or any of the current rooting methods I'm aware of, you need an SD card that has been flashed to make it bootable. Which is why you can't use the nook, most phones/mp3 players, and some card readers. The computer has to access the sd card as a very low/high level (whichever means basic for storage card partitioning). That's not something most devices can do.

I was able to use my MP3 Player as a card reader when I ran Autonooter for my Nook. But that's probably the exception. There's really no harm in trying anything you own that plugs into a usb port, and uses a microSD card. As long as you don't let it reboot in the device, nothing bad will happen. It probably won't work, but all that happens then is you boot up the nook with the flashed card in it, and it just turns on like normal.

Or just spend the $5 on a card reader, or borrow one from somebody.

Didn't mean to offend if I made it seem like the two were interchangable. Asked initially because it seems like more than likely the port for the card reader on my desktop PC is most likely damaged and seeing as my laptop doesn't have a port for the card reader I was out of options. I just tried using my blackberry and that was a no go. I read on XDA that you could use your Android device to root your Nook so I may use my rooted Evo and try it that way as a last resort.

Just to add to this and confirm another option.

I successfully made a SD card image with Win32imager through a SD card mounted as USB drive from my Android phone, so that may be an option for you since you have an EVO.

Yea you're right, and I actually found that out a while ago... but I used my old blackberry to do the job, it worked. But now my Nook Color will not boot up/turn on all the way. Not sure if it had something to do w/ me using my bb as a card reader because this has happened to other people as well. Well... it'll be back to the drawing board for me with wiping it clean and starting from scratch.
