AOSP Questions

Okay, so I just installed AOSP 0.9.9.2. My CM6 was acting up (not receiving texts unless I flashed to Liquid Sense then did a nand restore) so I switched to this. There's a couple of little quirky things which I need some help on.

1. At the lock screen, "Menu - Menu" doesn't seem to unlock my phone. I miss being able to do that. Is there a setting I'm missing?

2. The "Power Control" widget no longer has the 3G or Airplane mode option. Again, in CM6 I remember there being a place to configure which options are shown. I can't seem to find where to do that.

3. In CM6 I got used to having the battery percentage on top of the icon. Is there any way to get that on AOSP?

4. Without using ADW Launcher or something, can I remove 2 home screens? I only need 3, and would like to remove the far left and far right screens.

That's all I can think of atm, but I'm sure there'll be more.

Thanks for your help.

1) go into the settings, there is an option to turn on the phone with menu. not exactly sure where the setting is, but thats how i turn on my phone so i know its possible.
2) I use beautiful widgets for that. you are correct that they are not on the power control, but the missing widgets can also be found free in the market
3)just find a battery icon mod and flash it the same as you did aosp. I currently have the stock one, but ive used ones with percentage before and they work well with the rom
4)nope, you need a new launcher if you want to do that

1. I'm still unable to find the setting to turn on the menu-menu thing.
2. BW is working great.
3. The one I tried didn't work, but I'll figure it out after work.
4. I kinda figured that, no biggie. I'll just live with 2 empties. Maybe someday I'll fill em up with something.

You can unlock with menu on CM6 & CM7 because it's built into the CM Settings feature of the phone. I don't think AOSP provides this because his code is based strictly aosp source with almost no edits other than performance and stability mods. I'm almost certain the CM Settings has additional stuff built into the ROM that is no a part of the aosp source.

Alright. So, are you saying that there is no way to change this? If I used something like ADW Launcher, would that be able to tweak that?

Wiskid - AOSP comes loaded with Zeam as the Launcher - all you need to do change how many screen settings is hit Menu - preferences - workspace - Number of screens - you can have any number up to 7. (note - you have to make sure Zeam is set as your "default launcher" first or you will not get the preferences tab after hitting Menu)
Also - I believe the Menu unlock you are looking for is under Settings - Cyanogen Mod settings - Lockscreen - Unlock options.
I have the "battery percentage" feature you speak of and I got it without downloading an app - it is in there somewhere, but I cannot recall for the life of me where I found it. If I stumble across it again (and stumbling is literally how I find most things) I will let you know...

1sved1 he is running FroYo - Not Gingerbread.....
No CM settings in that build Pure Vanilla android....

Have no Menu-Menu thing is driving me insane. I'm thinking I might go back to CM6. Or should I hold off until CM7 is final? Can someone link me to the CM7 thread at XDA?
