Bit of a complete android newbie,

I have read some stories about AP mobile news eating a lot data and so I want to configure it so that it does not refresh. How do I do this? Complete newbie so I actually need to know how I enter a widgets settings.

Have searched quite a bit but could not find anything that helped me.

Thanks

open the widget, hit the menu key, press settings, and select ur auto refresh interval

however, ive heard that this widget uses up a lot of data even if ur auto refresh is set to OFF.. so if data is an issue for u, u might wanna try another news widget...i havent really noticed this issue coz im mostly on wifi, and i have a very large data plan :D so if u do too, then u shouldnt worry about it

Thank you.

Seems obvious know lol. I have removed it from the screen and set it to never refresh and tried force stopping it. Seems like it never stops running. I only have 500mb internet so I am a little concerned that it is so ruthless. I am however going to be using wifi a lot too.

use a network monitor app if u want to make sure u dont go over 500mb.. there's also an app that monitors the usage of each individual app, but i cant remember it, maybe someone else does.. this way, u can make sure AP mobile doesnt continue to use data :)

Norton Mobile Utilities will list how much data individual apps have downloaded, by hitting device, then tapping the network graph.

The only issue is that it's over a certain period and the app changes the start period by itself somewhat randomly. If you are trying to gauge relative usage on one app vs. another then this is no issue.

ah yes, norton utilities does that. weird i missed it, i use norton utilities quite a lot :D

i think the start date is set by ur settings, right? go to Usage/settings and then u select the billing start date.. and it calculates ur usage from this date.. and i assume it calculates the network usage from this date too, as my current start date is sept 30.
