Can someone please do a How-to-Guide on how to use APK manager and all of its functions. Maybe with download links, screenshots, u know for all us noob's here at androidforums.com. It would be very much appreciated probably by a lot of us. Thanks in advance :D

its pretty simple really put your apk in the folder place here for modding. to decompile enter"22" if its a system apk enter"10 and include the dependencies "frame work res and system ui " by dragging into command line hit "enter". your decompiled apk will then be wrote to the project folder do whatever you want to with the apk recompile sign if needed and install

How would I know if I need to sign it or not? Also how do I put the files back on the phone? Which one goes where? Do I just replace the framework file with root explorer? Or is there another method? Apk manager also asks additional questions while it's working, how do I answer this questions? Thanks.

theirs a few ways ab push, paste with file explorer,install with file explorer, update .zip
Which one goes where?
put them back were you pulled them from
Do I just replace the framework file with root explorer?
work with copy's of these
Or is there another method?
there is always another method

I'm just doing an image swap. What is the best way to do so for noobs?

Image swap, as in changing one photo for a different one, or changing a file.img to file2.img?

ninjamorph u can find it on market.
create a naniod backup first. locate and copy a apk you want to work with to desktop. rename it to whateverapp.zip and extract with 7 zip remember where you got it from. typically system/app or data/app find the images u want to change .apk\res\drawable-mdpi and apk\res\drawable-land-mdpi make copy's edit with gimp or what ever keeping the original file name. put on SD card (be careful with with .9pngs) run ninjamorph and it will swap them for you. an make a backup of the original app on sd card. reboot and your themed apk will be installed. you may have to take a few mins to learn how to use ninjamorph. but its easy as pie. an good way to start theming.
EDIT:
HOT SWAP you can also just drag your edited images into the apk by opening with 7zip don't extract the apk just open drag in your edited images and let it rewrite the old ones always keep the original file names save an close the apk. and over write the original apk file. fix permissions and reboot although i have had success doing this method on the tu it can be picky and wont install some edited apk's. the calender app is one i had a real hard time reinstalling before i finally got it working

apk manager is pretty updated. its better to use apk mulit tool. its a more update apk manager. and its makes things even simpler

ok so i know im not really supposed to do this but basically im trying to decompile the framework-res.apk from megatron and edit the values/style.xml so i can make a settings background.
1. i have tried to decompile both ways w/ and w/o dependencies. (everything seems to go fine).
then i do this in the project folder of apk manager (or multi) tried both.

2. Navigate to res/values and open styles.xml
3. Locate
4. Replace

@color/background_dark

with

@color/transparent

5. Replace

@drawable/screen_background_dark

with

@drawable/mybackground

6. Locate
7. Replace

@color/black

with

@color/transparent

8. Replace

@color/black

with

@drawable/mybackground

9. Create a 320x480 png to your liking, name it mybackground.png and place it in drawable-mdpi folder
9. Recompile framework-res.apk

when i try to recompile i always get errors no matter what i do.
keep in mind this is the first time i am trying to do something like this, so the problem is probably something stupid on my part.
i also tried with a rooted stock ff27 rom also with the same results everytime.
a rom that already has this feature implemented is easy to change the .png with ninjamorph.
but to implement this to a rom seems to not want to recompile correctly.

please help. thanks in advance

deleted the framework-res.apk in the place apk here for modding folder
entered "11" to recompile and then placed in folder for signing signed by entering "12" done no errors your problem might be your not deleting the orginal framework-res.apk file you used to decompile

did you just decompile or did you decompile with dependencies?

Did you do this with megatrom rom framework or stock. Im trying to do this with megatron. Everything decompiles fine. When I try to compile I get like 1164 png errors. I compile anyways and the changes go back I think. Should I be compiling like its system or no? Sorry for the hassle..

i used the framework from ct-mod rom i don't have any megatron files.. pm chev and see if he did anything that might cause that. idk it should work? if i get sometime to day i will dl megatron an look at it

Should I be compiling like its system or no?
really wont matter.. difference is weather it signed or not. you don't sign system apk's typically. sorry if i confused you i just signed mine to see if i got any errors. all you have to do is compile enter"11"

You used the twframework.apk right? For depedency
sorry was posting in a hurry i used twframework and system ui

i downloaded megatron and it worked for me 2 ways with twframe as its dependency and decompiling without dependency both produced a working framework-res apk with no errors.. i can share the one i made with you if you want idk why its not working for you

modded framework-res file=http://www.mediafire.com/?338hbx0y8h7mhg4

Maybe I'm using the wrong apk manager or something. Which one do you use? Can you post a link to the one you use please? Thanks for all the help you've provided
