Root apn settings screwed?

Data was working last night. Got up this morning to find no data. Checked my apn settings and something had changed them! Random things had been added to the apn name. Only thing ive to changed is I updated some apps last night over wifi. No e of these were apn type apps.
I'm a bit worried that I've got a dodgy app now, so I'm tempted to restore a backup!
Anyone had this or any clues?

Can't remember exactly what it said
d. It had apn.... appended to orangeinternet in the apn name. All working now but very odd

Your 100% sure non of your apps can change apn settings, right? Sounds suspicious.

I have APN backup & restore and APNdroid. only apps that I can think of use the APN settings.
there is nothing on my phone that cannot be restored so I'm not concerned about losing anything.
I must start being more careful when I update apps!

Doesn't apn Droid change the apn name to deny a connection?

that's it then :0), apndroid is set to turn data off over night (via timerrific) and it has obviously not turned it back on again properly in the morning.

cheers peeps

hmm im not sure why apps do that to save battery.
while its not maintaining a connection to the network because the apn is invalid. surely the repeated attempts to make a pdp context with the cellular network will cause the battery to still be used.

:/

I use to stop apps using my data allowance & so I don't get email etc.. notifications throughout the night. Don't know if it saves battery - it uses about 6% over night...

just leave mine on wifi overnight uses much less (3-4%) than constant searching/connecting to 3G (not a great 3G signal where i live).

I thought that too but seems it does save battery in my case, maybe not as much as just turning off the Data Connection all together
