Help APN Settings ??

Is anyone else having this issue! I am not able to receive or send MMS text messages. This has just happened since beginning of Feb 2014. Never had an issue for previous 19 months. How can I possibly fix this myself can't seem to get into Mobile Networks where the APN setting resides. Thanks for your help in advance. BTW called VM tech support and they are courteous but inept.

Are you on a custom ROM or stock?

If you're running stock, call VM tech support and ask to be elevated to a level 2 supervisor. (The reason most MVNOs are cheaper than the carrier on whose towers they run is that they save money on tech support by farming it out to companies that couldn't support "paper out" on a printer.)

If you're running a custom ROM, contact the ROM developer, but basically you're on your own.

Sorry my bad - should have stated on stock while describing my problem. Thanks for the response. Would really like an opportunity to see if I could fix myself. Have already talked to so many tech reps at VM. They really don't inspire much knowledge and confidence. Any other ideas?

Thanks for the f/u. I have done all of that at least 6/7 times. My sister has the same phone and we all have the same PRL, Software, etc. yet she has no problems and I can't get the MMS. I do get internet but not pictures messages.?? Frustrating

I forget now, but I think you can dial ##data# and hit clear or reset

Sorry I'm drawing a blank

Look for dialer codes and there should be a reset or reactivate.... Something along those lines

Thanks - did this a number of times and no luck (##25327#). Resets the phone but still no luck. Have tried 7 different VM techs and they keep saying someone will call back and only one actually did call back. They appear to be useless. That is why I'm trying to do on my own. Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Thanks TDOW - I can't find anyway to input this information for it to take effect. When I go settings - wireless & networks -mobile networks - I get automatic connections and no other options. Or when I go Wireless and Networks - I get airplane mode, vpn, portable hotspot. When I go to the MMS message I can input that info but there is no way to enter it. Any other ideas Thanks in advance.

If you have root access you can try an app called APN Backup & Restore in the play store.

You will need to move .apk to the system/apps folder so you need root access first

Went to the post you suggested and tried to download 8sms but my phone tells me not compatible with my phone. Could you recommend another messaging app? Thanks

I use Textra as my SMS program. I have also used Handcent and GoSMS in the past (I liked both but they took up too much memory on my old LG Optimus V, and I have gotten used to Textra so I am not sure I would go back to Handcent or GoSMS at this point.)

Go into your messaging program (I am assuming you are not using the stock messaging program). When you have your SMS program open, go into settings and find the APN settings there. Enter the settings from above and that should fix it for you.

Thanks so much will download textra and see how it goes. Did input the above info finally into Chomp but still no luck with mms.

Did download Textra, entered all the SMS info, still no luck first, second , third SMS messages all failed. Any other ideas? Thanks for all the input so far. Seems like I need to completely reset phone and lose all info or need to root it?

Factory reset would be the next step

There is an app called helium that you can backup app data with no root.

Been away for 5 days came back to same issue but went to a level 2 supervisor as was suggested here. VM opened a ticket on it and told me something would be done within 24 - 72 hrs. So we'll see what happens. Just a big shout out and thanks to all who tried to help with their suggestions.

I just wish we could have been more helpful.
