Help APN Settings

My phone was unable to receive 4g LTE. I checked the APN with a T-Mobile support rep and they said this phone is ROOTED so they were unable to continue to help me trouble shoot the problem. I bought this phone from a person and not a store. The T-Mobile Rep said to unroot the phone and call back, but he then added that by unrooting this phone it may cause the phone to be locked and incompatible with T-Mobile. He also supported his claim by adding that the person probably unlocked the phone by rooting the phone and changing preferences and so by unrooting will cause the phone to be locked once again. I am not sure if the guy I bought my S5 from is the original owner or not.

  • My APV Protocol is grayed out.
  • I am trying to get 4G LTE.
  • I have called T-Mobile and At&t and also samsung manufacturer.
  • None were able to fix this problem.
  • My girlfriend and I have the same plan from T-mobile.
  • Her phone is from T-Mobile and mine is from AT&T.
  • She receives LTE and I do not.
  • The only differences is our protocols.
  • My Protocols are grayed out and im trying to find a way around to it change it.
  • The sources I called were unable to help with my LTE problem, so I am trying to change my APN settings that are grayed.

You need to get to an upper tier AT&T Tech Support person.

I have found the 1st one to answer is a Script Reader and they don't have a clue.

A real TS person will give you some hidden key commands and walk you thru the APN settings manually. Been there, got the T shirt.

This thread implies the same thing as what I am saying here.

and also this thread. maybe one of them will give you a hint if TS don't respond to you.

How would I reach an upper tier TS? Also My phone is FROM At&t, but it is unlocked and I am using it for T-Mobile. So would I contact AT&T or T-Mobile?

I think you are screwed in the vernacular. AT&T and T-Mobile aren't using the same exact bands for LTE. I believe Ironass has the critical scoop on this.

I can't take my Verizon S5 and use it on AT&T and get LTE, wrong band setup. The radios are configured to different frequencies for the LTE services.

Upper Tier level support is you persistently asking for Technical Support Engineers to help you, the first ding dong that answer the Customer Service line is a Script Reader and rarely has any insight as to what you want to do.
