Apolo kernel won't go!

I flashed neatrom 4.7 which is great, then put siyah S2v6.0b5 on. Decided to give the Apolo kernel a try so in it went. I must say I didn't find anything wrong with it, but decided to put Siyah back in.
First, the Apolo recovery is in Spanish so had to translate the menu. Then found that any attempt to flash Siyah failed. In fact any attempt to flash any other kernel failed! So atm I'm just left with the option to reflash neatrom. Unless someone knows any different.
Also, CWM can't find a nandroid backup that I can see with Root Explorer. Could this be linked to the kernel?

Won't do any harm to flash neat Rom again with no wipe...or better still with a kernel wipe first, then flash neat then another kernel wipe followed by siyah!
