Apostrophe problem

Hello everyone, my name is Michael, and, as you may see, I'm new to the forum. I'll get straight to the point. I'm a happy Android user, and, well, I started experiencing some problems today. The problem is, whenever I type a word with an apostrophe in my Browser (the stock, default one) or google search (toolbar or w/e), for example, CAN'T, it automatically converts it into can&#39t in the suggested results. This problem didn't occur before, so I did a factory erase, but the problem is still there. My device is Alcatel One-Touch 995, running Android 2.3 Gingerbread. If anyone can help, it would be great. Thanks in advance. :)

Hello, Michael Daisy, Welcome to AF!

We have some alcatel one touch phones listed in our forum, http://androidforums.com/, but I don't know if we have yours.

i am surprised the factory reset didn't get you straight.

In the meantime, till someone else chimes in, look in Settings, under Language and keyboard, or equivalent, and see if you can turn off things like word prediction and word completion.

I had to dig down pretty deep to find them. Maybe that will give you some relief?

Thanks for the quick reply. Well, I already have stuff like prediction unchecked, but anyway, it's not that big of a problem, it's just really annoying and it's the only thing preventing my experience with the phone to be perfect. :)

Sorry for bumping the topic, but anyway, I updated my phone to 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich (which was pretty easy btw), and my problem is gone. Thanks for your help.

I have this exact same problem! It's only started happening the last week or two and I've no idea why. Like the OP, it only happens in Google search or search from the stock browser. Doesn't happen in Boat Browser search or anywhere else (eg SMS, emails etc).

It happens whether I use Swype or the stock keyboard. I have cleared the cache/data for both apps and also the search app. Anyone have any ideas? I'm also running 2.3 but it doesn't seem to be a common problem.
