App Addicts!

I just got my Droid four days ago and I already have about 150 apps.

Is this bad? How many apps do you have? Can this slow down my Droid even if the apps aren't running?

Also does it slow down the Droid to put too many app icons on the home screens, or should i keep them all in folders?

So far I've got folders for Music players, Video, Chat, Web, Tools, Toys, music production, Metaphysics, and Survival.

I'm crazy about this thing but it's already starting to lag so I need advice. Also this is just a thread to vent about your addiction to the app market and recommend off-market app sources.

What device do you have? Also try to limit downloading a bunch of different apps that do basically the same thing.

It depends on your phone, and what type of apps. I have about that many on my phone all the time and have no problems. I have several apps that run in the background all the time with no adverse affects, but I have a gig of RAM and my phone is over clocked at 1.6 GHz dual core.

If you have an older phone you may start to experience some lag if you have several apps running at the same time in the background.

I also only have about 18-20 apps in my app drawer (the rest are hidden) and I keep everything else in folders on my home screens, and I only use 2 widgets on my home screens.

If you just have shortcuts then it shouldn't affect your phone's performance. Try seeing how many of those apps are usually running in the background? Now if you have widgets, they will be constantly running in the background.

Look at the apps you've downloaded. See which ones you've actually used in the past 4 days. If you haven't touched it yet other than your first try after downloading it, then you most likely don't need it :)

See if you have duplicate apps. Try to look for multipurpose apps that do more than one thing :)

I agree with what everyone else has said. I have an Atrix 4G and have 203 apps. I have seven home screens that are filled with 32 widgets and over 20 app folders. I have apps that run in the background, some at certain times and others all the time. My phone can lag some at times, but I expect this with how I have my phone set up.

Ive got the Verizon VS910 4G and 10 free gigs of space still. Its pretty new ;)

You have the LG Revolution LTE. You should have 1+ GB dedicated for apps. You can check how much you app storage you have used bs going into setting -> application -> storage use. At the bottom of this page it shows you how much space is left from you.

If you are noticing a lag on your phone, it might be caused by a rouge app where it's still running even after you are not using it. You might want to try SystemPanel on the market. It's one of the best app to track your app activities.

Sincerely, I have 1,8gb just for apps..

Even if I download every app I find interesting, it will be hard to fill all that space.

But I like to keep it tidy, I'm using 300mb right now.
