Tested and working on:

-CM6-RC2
-SS4.6 (but makes ringtones and notifications crackle)
-FRG01B deodexed
-Kangerade 5.0.9
-Sapphire 0.8.4
-Lithium Mod
-BB0.4

This is awesome:

Navigate to the bottom to get the update.zip to flash this.

If it works on another ROM, post here and I'll add it to the OP.

Thanks Fab. Exactly what I've been looking for. Only running vanilla Froyo and overclocked, so will play around to see if I can get this going. (output to truck stereo badly needs optimizing).

I saw a tweet saying they were gonna add this into CM :)

Supposedly gonna be in the next nightly.

This is exactly what I've been looking for.
I'm kind of a newbie and am waiting for the OTA to root my dInc.
What's the scenario for this to become available as an apk?

The site says it's a base system framework update, so my guess is no way it will work without root.

It's working on SS 4.6 for me..I think it should work on just about anything.

edit: it 'works' but it makes notifications and ringtones crackle.

Any way to uninstall this (if need be) without reflashing the whole ROM?
I am planning on testing this on BB 0.4 in a minute.

On chevys SS 4.6 I just went into /system/app in root explorer and deleted it. I couldn't remove it using terminal, don't know why. But you don't 'have' to uninstall it. It made the speakers crackle on SS 4.6 but you can just disable the options in the app and doing that fixed it.

Ended up going back to CM6 because I love this app

make a backup of /system/lib/libaudioflinger.so

Then, if it doesn't work, delete the new libaudioflinger.so and restore your backup. Also, delete the DSPManager.apk

Working fine on Kangerade 5.0.9. (Nextheme). Thanks, Fab!

Thanks, I'll add that to the list!

Didn't get a chance to get back to this until tonight, but it works fine on p3droid's deodexed FRG01B also. I did notice the crackle mentioned for notifications and ringtones, but disabling dynamic range compression fixes it. Thanks again for the head's up on this. Been looking for something like this since I first heard DROOOID :)

Woot. Bought a new pair of earphones just last week. Burning them in right now! Can't wait to play with this tomorrow.

This is already in the CM nightlies, 8/1 release (maybe even earlier) has it.

This app nearly brought tears to my eyes... music sounds AWESOME now, especially through my Bose earbuds!

Experiment: Get all your settings just the way you want 'em, then uncheck Dynamic Range Compression, 5 Band Graphic Equalizer, and then Headset Virtual Room Effect if you have it on, listen to the bland music, and then check mark everything you had selected before, and WOW!!!

Everything is perfect in Droidland now!!! :)

I haven't been able to get cm6 working right on my Droid. Will this work with 5.0.8?? Been wanting a eq for ages.

It works for me on Sapphire 0.8.4, I just had it long enough to test. I'll report back if I have any problems but the eq definitely works w/ my headphones. Lovin' it!:)

Not sure, since CM5 is 2.1 based. You could try, but definitely make a backup first.

Cool, I'll add that to the supported ROMs list!

ok, being the farthest thing from an audiophile possible, I don't have any idea what an equalizer does, besides (ready for the stunning leap in logical thought?) equalize music volumes.

Is that a big deal? its seems to be because I hear people clamoring for it all the time. Anyone care to explain further?
