App for extra symbols on Facebook, Instagram, etc.??

When I use Facebook or even Instagram, I noticed people use these special symbols in the comments or in their status update.

So finally, I decided to ask my friend how they did it.

They told me iPhone already comes with it in their keyboard.

Unfortunately, there's none for the Android built in.

So I did a search on the Google Play and found out there's tons apps that can do it.

I have Samsung S3 so I just wondering which app is the best one to install on my phone that is free?

Thanks everyone! :)

I'm surprised no one reply back. I figured some people have install such an app on their phone considering the iPhones have a keyboard with extra symbols people can use on Facebook and Instagram.

So I re-title it.

I only just figured this out yesterday after months of using Instagram (and years for Facebook). You need to install a separate emoji keyboard.

I've been using this one because it's ad free (many are not apparently). But there's a trade-off because it doesn't seem to have as many characters as some others.

After you activate it, type from your usual keyboard, then switch to the emoji one as needed (usually from holding the space bar but probably varies by keyboard).

SwiftKey (just now, not counting beta) supports emoji for Jelly Bean and up, Google keyboard supports it for KitKat. Emoji have been slow to be smoothly integrated into Android.

I ended up buying Kii and adding the Handcent Emoji Plugin as a work-around until I got KitKat.
