[APP] GrooVe IP - Google Voice VoIP

purchased the app, but it will not register. I have put in the correct username (no @gmail.com correct?) and password several times now. Read somewhere to log onto gmail in the browser and that did not work. Any ideas on how to fix this?

That is incorrect. You need your google email and password.

Hi,

I am very interested in this app. Before i purchase it, i have a question to the developer.

Do you store emails and passwords anywhere else except on the phone?

Thank you

It is only stored (encrypted) on the phone. We have no server, all of your traffic goes directly between the phone and Google's server.

Your username is username@gmail.com

Make sure you log out of gmail on any computers you may have logged in on.

You don't really need the @gmail.com, we'll append it if it's not there. But yes make sure you're logged out of gmail/google chat/google talk any where else you're logged in. Also, if you're using your phone's data connection and not WiFi then make sure the Allow 3G/4G calling checkbox is checked.

You do have a google voice phone number correct? Not just an account? Don't believe it will register unless you have a phone number.

fantastic app snrb! any thoughts on future integration with Tasker (i.e. turn on only during specific time or location)? I think this would be a huge feature and would definitely give more exposure to your app.
Thanks
Chris

Haven't heard of Tasker, but I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip.

That'd be great. Tasker is the premier application for complete phone automization. I currently use it (although no longer with Groove IP) to tell google voice callback and SIPDroid to turn off when I'm not at home and turn on when I'm at home. It uses a location api to determine my whereabouts so that I don't have to do anything to automatically turn on and off these features. I could definitely see GrooveIP being especially handy with this type of automation.

PS: If you ever need a tester drop me a line and I'd be happy to test future versions.

I am having a problem with my Optimus V. App works fine for the first 30 seconds or so, then starts having one way problems. I can hear the other person fine, but they can not hear me. This happens over both 3G and wifi. It happens with audio hack both enabled or disabled. Any suggestions? Any other Optimus V people have this issue?

I know Google Voice has been having issues for the last week. A few calls I've made I've seen in our logs a message from Google Voice 'Media Terminated Internal Server Error'. I did a quick search and found other people having the same issue

Google Voice down again??????????? - Google Voice Help

Is this happening to you every call or randomly?

It ranges from 30 to 90 seconds. Call is nice and clear, then on receiving side it sounds like the phone is losing reception, and starts crackling. At that point it never clears up. I have been using skype to skype over 3g and wifi with no issues.

Can you completely stop the app (settings->applications force close) and restart and see if it gets any better? Just wondering if something is getting into a bad state. Or restart your phone and try?

After making a call, it leaves me inside the settings page instead of the dialer. Pressing return, brings me to the dialer. Pressing return again takes me to the built in dialer that I initiated the call with.

okay sorry to bother but i need some assistance from anyone. i have the optimus v and not rooted, i have had and used gv with my phone and had the numbers routed to it. from my understanding you cannot have the checked in your gv settings or you will not receive the incoming calls.

it says to have gtalk instead (how do i add gtalk as a phone)?

i do have the green icon and says im registered but every call i try to make it says cannot complete the call within 3secs.

i tried to check the (stun) and tried uncheck
i tried only wifi and only 3g.

i love the idea of this app and have paid for it, but now way past the 15min for refund. i dont want to refund i just would like it working. any help will be appreciated.

You need to go into your google voice account. In the top right there is a gear icon. Click on that and go into voice settings. From there you can change where calls are forwarded. You should have Google Chat checked. And the local device unchecked (so both groove ip and the native phone don't ring)

it doesnt show google chat as a selection tho

"now it does" idk why it didnt in the first place, but it shows it under my cell(which is unchecked) and google chat is now checked.

Sometimes while on voip it is hard to punch in numbers on the dialer and be transferred corectly or especially punching in pin #'s. Wondering if you can make the dialer play a tone longer so the other end gets the info. Sorry for the gripe but that is the only thing that I had trouble with. The app actually was done very well.

Yup, already done. We weren't sending long enough dtmf, we've fixed that. Will be in the next version. Just trying to chase down some call quality issues that people with LG Optimus have reported.

We also have one more enhancement planned to add a textbox that displays what digits you've pressed with the incall dialpad. That may not be in the next version.

Installed ap and works fine to call out however I never get the option to answer calls while using wifi. Green GV icon is on in the top panel, am I missing something?

Does the phone ring at all? If not, then double check that forward calls to Google Chat is set in your google voice settings. Also, ensure that you're not logged in to gmail, google chat, or google talk anywhere else.
