[APP] GrooVe IP - Google Voice VoIP

Works perfectly on my LG Ally (Velocity 1.1 ROM)! Wow.

Raising the price was a very tough decision for us. We had decided before listing that at a certain number sold we would increase the price. We've put in a great deal of time and effort into the app and hope that people will agree the app is worth the extra $1.

I think $4 is COMPLETELY reasonable for an app that completely streamlines the process of integrating wifi/3g with Google Voice calling. Having spent countless hours trying to get sipdroid and pbxes.org to play nice together, trying one SIP provider after the other, and having suffered through the demise of the Gizmo Project, I find this app to be somewhat of a miracle.

Seriously. We are talking about a one time fee of 4 bucks for an app that allows me to make/receive Google Voice calls without using my minutes, and regardless of whether I have a mobile/3g connection. I call this a bargain.

- Fix a crash when clicking contacts with a ' in the name
- Call timer should start when the call is connected.
- Only say wifi is connected when in connected state, not connecting or obtaining ip
- Fix Incoming calls hung at ringing forever.
- Fix incoming call screen only appears for 2 seconds on certain phones
- In call dialpad show digits that have been pressed
- Make dialer screen editable so you can add digits to the front or middle
- Add a default area code config

Removed the WiFi connectivity change as that was causing people to lose registration

I downloaded new version tonight, however, I can't login to my google voice account anymore. It worked ok with older version.

I have been following this app closely - looks cool at a great price. Here's the kicker: I want use it on a Motorola Xoom tablet. Has anybody had any luck with this?

We have a lot of people using the app on the Xoom tablet. They tell me it works well!

hi Snrb, in my google voice setting, in order to receive incoming calls, I have to set it to "google chat" only, but not cell phone forward. However, since I am using wifi only for Groove, I won't receive GV call if I am out of wifi area. Do I need to turn on cell phone forward in GV setting each time I leave wifi area?

Thanks.

Unfortunately that is the only way right now. We are investigating other options to make it easier.

I'll add a setting to ignore incoming calls (someone already suggested it, so it's on our list) if that would help. Can't really do much about the emails, don't believe we're generating them.

I'm having this same problem with an automated email to my contacts. Every time I login to the application, my contacts get the email that looks like it's from Google. I really want to use this application, but whether it's your app or your app's interaction with Google that's causing the emails, I can't keep it installed if it's going to spam my friends all the time. It seems to happen during the sign in process. Can you look into what might be the cause of the emails and if there's a way to make them stop while still using your app?

I'm a sprint user with an HTC Evo and just downloaded the app last night.

I looked into it a little while ago for someone else. The post below and the link were the only info I found. He was able to resolve the problem by deleting or blocking some contacts. Hopefully that works for you as well.

"BTW I noticed Google has a bug - placing a call to the Google Voice number resulted in my wife receiving an email "Peter Gunn wants to chat" (looks like this bug). Turns out that this is because I invited her to gmail and she is on my gmail chat list with "invited" status (you have to click the down arrow in chat last and select "show all contacts" to see this). The emails stopped once I blocked her in the list. "

Quick Question:

I am going to the Bahamas next week and am taking my Transformer which does not have a Carrier. If I get this to work and have a Wifi connection down there, do you think I will be able to make calls with my GV or would I be charged a roaming fee?

If you use WiFi and the app then there won't be any roaming fee to call back to the US. The only thing you may run into is a firewall or ports being blocked on the WiFi you use. Hope that helps!

Thanks! That fixed the email issues. I blocked all the "Invited" entries in my Gmail Chat window, and that stopped the "Join Google" spam emails. This is an awesome app! Thanks again!

I'm assuming you mean the phone doesn't ring? First thing to try is see if it works when the screen is on. Phone may be going into a power saving mode when the screen is off. Next thing to double check is that you're signed out of gmail, google chat, google talk, etc in all other locations. You may be able to sign in again (order appears to matter). But to see if it works I'd sign out from everywhere else.

Thanks for the reply, but I had tried those things to no avail. By "no response" I meant that there is no ringing, no popup...nothing.

I do have a pbxes account (using Sipdroid), but they are having a problem right now, so I can't even sign in there. Argh!

I have uninstalled Sipdroid from my phone also.

As soon as I can I will turn off my pbxes accout and try again.

I know the pbxes account will cause incoming calls to fail. Your calls are being routed there instead of to GrooVe IP. Let me know if things are better once you can turn off the pbxes account. You can also sign up for a new GV account/number and that would also fix it (not sure how tied you are to your number)

Thank you. I have had my GV # since Grand Central so am very tied to it. I hope that bypassing pbxes will fix the issue. I'll let you know.

Your app will be so much better than having to use them. :-)

FYI. Pbxes started working again, and after changing my GV password there, all is well. Groove IP is working in and out. Now to play a bit.

Is there any reason to think that Google may try to circumvent your program?

Thanks again for a nifty proggy. :)
