App killer was abusing my battery

A task killer is good, if you know what you are doing. Being that most don't...probably best to stay away.

advanced task killer free is what I use, and no, I don't see battery issues, nor do I see performance problems.

SystemPanel is all you need. It shows you what's running and what's inactive. It all shows you how much of the CPU that program has used. Most of the programs that people complain about have used 0.5% or less of the CPU. You're probably using more of the CPU just killing those programs than you would be leaving them open.

Giving System Panel a go. I do like being able to see the CPU usage and such. I now have a more peace of mind knowing apps are going inactive (just cached to memory), when ATK made me think they were still active.

Seems HTC Sense is using the most resources out of what I do have active.

Question: Why don't all apps have a close / exit option? For example the HTC Sense Music Player. Even when I'm finished using it, the player is still running in the background. I'm not lazy just give me the option of the extra click to shut the thing off.

I don't use a app killer either.

I just back out of the Music player and it goes inactive. The only apps that don't do that usually have an exit button (like Pandora or most games).

The problem is some apps are buggy and will keep the phone in an 'awake' state when it should be sleeping, which drains the battery 5x as fast.

htc's flickr will do it, as will htc calendar. There's currently no non-root solution for these apps, except to not use the calendar or flickr and manually shut them down whenever your phone is rebooted. Unless of course you get a random reboot and then you won't even know until it's too late.

I am currently trying ATK with the only target the calendar app, and only once per hour. So far it has not drained my battery. I can't imagine why it would in the first place, I think some people just have placebo syndrome.
