I decided to put together a flashable package that contains both pbots throttle mod, and the patch files needed to use PDroid permission management app, since both modify the services.jar. PDroid is a permission management app that allows fine tuning to what permissions you let an app have. If you want an app, but don't want to use it because it has the permission "read sensitive log data", you can now use it! Just deny its ability to use that permission! Refusing permissions on some apps have caused stability issues when done with other permission management apps.
PDroid allows for an awesome level of protection with no drawbacks, those if you that have used it on other phones know it, and those that haven't will be amazed
You must download PDroid from the market, but for it to work services, framework and core jar files must be patched. I did the work for you, just download the zip at the end of this post.
If you are unfamiliar with PDroid, read on..
PDroid allows permissions blocking to deny access for any installed application to the following data separately:
1. Device ID (IMEI/MEID/ESN)
2. Subscriber ID (IMSI)
3. SIM serial (ICCID)
4. Phone and mailbox number
5. Incoming call number
6. Outgoing call number
7. GPS location
8. Network location
9. List of accounts (including your google e-mail address)
10. Account auth tokens
11. Contacts
12. Call logs
13. Calendar
14. SMS
15. MMS
16. Browser bookmarks and history 17. System logs
18. SIM info (operator, country)
19. Network info (operator, country) For device ID,phone and mailbox number, SIM serial, subscriber ID and device location it also allows supplying custom or random values.
Why you would want to use it:
Applications do NOT crash when access to private data is blocked (unlike with Permissions Denied or CM).
Fine-grained tuning of access to private data.
No background service needed. Very small memory footprint (~700KB).
No impact on battery life.
No impact on performance (5ms overhead on access to privatedata; yes, that's 0.005s).
100% reliable unlike ROOT applications (LBE), which need to start their background service on boot (see android underground to learn why this is an issue).
No ROOT required for the app to run.
No Android permissions required for the app to run.
Open-source.
Installation Instructions: BACKUP YOUR ROM, download the patch zipto your SD card, Boot your device into your custom (CWM) recovery. Select "install zip from sdcard" Select "choose zip from sdcard" Select the PDroid patch you have put on your SD card After flashing is finished, reboot the device Install the PDroid app from the Android Market.
