Help App screen scroll

Is there a way to switch the app menu in gingerbread back to a constant scroll like in froyo?

Not without rooting. HTC decided they liked the horizontal app menu. I suppose you could use a 3rd party launcher but you will not be able to use any of the sense widgets if you do that.

All OEM are like that it is part of the experience of the phone they want to provide

I wasn't fond of the scrolling by page either. A coworker got me turned on to GO Launcher Ex and a lot of the addons that came with that. COMPLETE AWESOMENESS!!!! And almost fully customizable (scroll horizontally by page, vertically smooth, etc). Lots of other features and customizations too, free and you don't need to root!
