app space?!

thinking about purchasing the nexus s & so i have been out of the android loop for a little. i know this phone has 16gb of internal space, and no sd card, and only 2gb is allocated for apps?! so what happens when you download a few 3d/iphone type games? you run out of app space just like the g1 days of 200 mb of app space? does anyone find that an issue? or is it not a big deal? only way around it would be to root it?!?

apps to sd...use it.(although there is no sd, it stores it in the 16gb area). most big games utilize the feature.

Catch is you are stuck displacing media space for data. Both apps2sd and large data files in some games goes to the space and since no SD card, the device is VERY limited in regards to media storage.

This device is an absolute slap in the face to media fans. What the frock was Samsung thinking? Is this simply a rebranded Windows phone (no microsd on several Windows phones coming out).

Then again, if you do not carry much about media and could care less- no harm. no foul. Makes Samsung's life easier, since they will not have to make two core designs for Android and Windows..... I hope this device fails as a result ;) Really.

This device should have had a microsd. Then again, I am concerned HTC may be following the same cost cutting measures and the HTC Thunderbolt may not have one either.....

That would suck big Oprah butt.

I'v 78 apps on my nexus s,more than enough music than i could care to listen to,a couple of hundred photos, and still have out of the 1gb allowed for apps 843mb,and USB storage as they call it is still over 11gb out of the 13.31gb left,so in my opinion the amount of storage is more than enough for the mainstream market,at the end of the day samsung and google are producing a product for the many not the few,out of all the people i know who have 32gig phones not one is anwhere near fillling it up.
I mean in the real world if you put a film, take a video,or photos how many people keep it on their phone...would be interesting to know...me if iv watched a film on my phone,i watched the tron movie the otherday on a flight on it,got home then removed it,at the same time transferred photos i took to my macbook pro, simple really....
All mobile phones are PORTABLE media devices,if you need to keep anything for ever so to speak just put it on your computer.....

okay thanks for all the info, i just got the nexus s today, and looking under storage i have about 1gb of internal (i thought it was supposed to be 2?) and it says about 13 on total space. im not looking at putting movies or music on it because i have a ipod touch 4g for that, just a few apps not many but i have a few and now im at like 980 mb of internal space and i have moved as much to "sd" so is that 980mb enough? i dont want it to turn into my g1 days where i run out of memory for apps all over again?!?

You'll be fine. Most large apps support installation to the SD partition, and those that don't are usually less than 2MB. That would be over 500 apps on your internal storage before it fills up.

I have 83 apps installed right now, with only a couple of them on the SD partition. Even so, I still have 750MB of internal space left for plenty more apps.
