for the app store when I go to download a free app it is now asking for credit card, PayPal or some form of payment method. nothing against you guys but I don't want to fill out that info if it's not needed. I'd there any workaround I am nor seeing. There was one but that workaround is gone

Well it's not a matter of having anything against us guys: we are not the Android development team or the Google Play developers, just a bunch of android users.

But I'm a little puzzled, as my daughter uses the Play Store without providing any card details. The iOS App Store does ask for a payment method in my experience, but the Google one shouldn't.

But sure, try clearing data for the Play Store app as suggested above. You'll have to sign in again, but that's the worst that will happen.

If all else fails, you could buy yourself a $5-10 Google Play gift card and enter that into the Play Store instead of a credit card.

I know for sure at the bottom left hand corner of that dialog box there's a "skip" button. Google prompts you every once in a while but it's completely optional.
