[App Suggestion] Multi-window app?

Idk but the warp sequent doesnt have an app per say but you hold down the home key for a few seconds and all the apps your running and recents are scrollable like alt-tab on windows i use it to do calculations or multitask between texting and gaming

That's standard recent apps view (it's a grid on the HTC One). I think the OP is after a "split screen" view of 2 apps simultaneously rather than swapping between recent apps.

I remember a feature like that on an old phone maybe they have made it for android. now im curious lol
Edit: nhq productions has an app called multiscreen multitasking for 1.70 half price

MultiWindow app is not possible on any non-Samsung phone because it's a ROM level customization. It requires a compatible app, plus the ROM must be set to support this. An app cannot alter the behavior of another app due to a certain level of sandboxing due to permissions (which is why many apps can't be used with multiwindow, only Samsung apps and some apps which have built in special support for Samsung like ezPDF). The closest thing you can get that's not Samsung is the popup things on ParanoidAndroid ROM.

You wanna make one? It's really difficult, you are basically getting the plain android files and editing it down in the internals. You're basically making your own Android ROM. It takes weeks and weeks of research and and you basically need to know how to rewrite Android.

Visit the All Things Root forum for your version of the One. That's the best place to get info on flashing ROMs.

You don't turn your ROM into a custom ROM, you replace it with one.

Replacing your ROM also means losing all the other features of the HTC ROM. For example, you lose blink feed, you also lose the HTC Widgets and other HTC only stuff.

Those are different in the sense that those are parts of a single app and is not true multiwindow as compared to Samsung's iteration. For example, you can't use Google Chrome using that. With true Multiwindow, I can use Chrome and write notes at the same time on Google Docs. Not possible on the apps you showed because they can only use the stuff built into them.

The reason there arent "multi-window" apps is that google just wont allow it. It wouldnt be fair on their play store devs who could get bad reviews because their app looks stupid in half-screen mode. It would have to become a part of android sdk so that devs could build it into all their roms.
Cyanogen (a HUGE developer team) got warned off by google.
Having said that, some of the smaller rom teams are running a multiwindow-like feature experimentaly justnow so if youre into roms, expect to see it soon. In apps, dont, its not gona happen unless its part of KitKat :)

Thank so much for all the replies, hopefully it's not gonna be that big of a deal because I got my laptop in case I need to multi window
